Can't wait 'til April. Spring training drags on forever, though.

Are you guys doing new Jays avatars again for this year? They're so well done.

It seems like management is higher on Thames then they are Snider.
I think it's the other way around. Snider would have to suck big time to not make the team. Unless Thames hits .500

The team knows they need to make a decision on Snider and this is the year to do it.

Snider in the game at left field now. Better hit a HR to match Thames and keep the conversation interesting.

I really like our offense 1-9 spots. It seems like everyone of those can be productive and I can't help but think how good it would look if Lind/Rasmus bounce back and Lawrie remains in beastmode.

Based on what exactly?
Farrell and AA have even said this summer that Thames has the inside track. If they have similar springs I dont see anyway Snider wins the job. Snider is going to have to be considerably better to win the job imo.

I've heard a few people question Escobar as the leadoff hitter, and want to move him into a position where he can get some rbi opportunities. Thing with that is that there's so much depth in the latter part of the lineup that there will be lots of offensive momentum/turnover back to the top of the order. There's no real weak part of the lineup.

I like Yunel a lot as a leadoff hitter. I guess the reasoning for some wanting Yunel in more RBI opportunities is probably because how much Jays have struggled to hit in RISP over the years and Yunel is one of those guys that just hits for a good BA.

If he had some more speed, he would be an ideal one that can hit, get on base with moderate power (for a SS). He did so well there last season so I wouldn't even consider moving him. We need a good #2 hitter that can get on base for Jose and I'm hopeful Rasmus/KJ can do that.

EDIT: aww, Gose strikeouts

Yup. Feeling good about this team. The offense is so spread out.

Thames>>> Snider. There, I said it.

There's a buzz around Farquhar? That's news to me. I kind of just assumed he was AAA fodder.

Yep. I've got the design about 90% hammered out. The big wait right now is just for proper pictures of everyone in the new uniforms.

This is the prototype I've been working on:

Obviously the real deal won't have the giant "prototype" watermark running from corner to corner. I just had to do that or people would be stealing these even before they're finished.

Where/When did they say that? Link?

I think if they're the same Snider gets it. This is Snider's last option year. They need to make a decision on him and keep him or move on.

Can we all steal one when you make them available or are you doing it on a request basis?

it'll just be a free-for-all with what I post. There aren't enough players for everyone to get a unique one (and I'd feel bad for the poor saps that get stuck with a Ben Francisco or Danny Farquhar avatar ) so I'll just put one out for each guy on the roster, plus a few extras for prospects or the like, and everyone can take what they want.

After a couple of years of the Sharks board holding a draft for their season set avatars, I've long since given up on doing them on a poster-by-poster basis. The last time I was responsible for the primary avatar set, it was up somewhere in the neighbourhood of 150+ users. I know the Jays community is smaller, but it's still a much bigger time sink to do up each one specific for a given poster, especially when they're animated.

Yay, Jays win 7-1! Even as a spring training game, it feels good.

They both said it while being interviewed on Primetime on different occasions.
I thought it was almost common knowledge that Thames has the inside track. Heck even Ashby and Howart said the same thing at the start of the broadcast.

I think if they're similar Thames gets it. I think far too many people who want Snider succeed underrate Thames and make him out to be some scrub.

The only big, big problem I have with Thames over Snider is his D. If he can at least be serviceable in LF I think it closes the gap, and Thames has a bit of an advantage because he doesn't get viewed through the lens of a potential draft bust like Snider is.

I do continue to hope for Snider to have a bit of a breakout though.

Important to note this as AA talked about our outfield being terrible defensively and said it hurt our flyball pitchers like Morrow and Cecil (and probably even FF, Rauch etc...). That could be the difference maker if they end up hitting similarly.

Good win today even if it is just spring training... So I guess the only confirmed regulars tomorrow are JPA, Lawrie and Snider....

The more I look at the batting lineup the more I get excited.

If Lawrie continues to beast and Rasmus rebounds, man that could be one of the most deadly 1-9's in the league.

Anyone think Lawrie can challenge 30/30 this season?

This might be one of the best articles I've read on the Jays and its done by ESPN.
Read that and tell me you dont get giddy about where this team is headed.

ESPN just called us a juggernaut in the very near future

He could. I think 25/25 is a safe projection for him. The sky is the limit for this kid.

[insert Votto at cleanup] How does it look now?

Dare I say it, on par/better than Boston's?

It depends on alot of things.

-Can Lawrie turn into one of the best 3rd basemen
-Can Rasmus hit like 2010 version
-Can Lind rebound to decent level
-Can JP up his average to like .250ish
-Can Thames get better and be a .280ish hitter with 25 hr's

This lineup has the potential to be just as good as Boston's imo.
