Ducks Make Their Move
Largely content to continue to ride the wave of this season's success, the Ducks' front office decided to forego any hugely bold moves at the trade deadline in favor of keeping things simple.
On the heels of a minor move earlier in the week which saw depth defenseman Davis Drewiske go to Calgary, today Anaheim made a deal to send a 2012 2nd to the New York Islanders in exchange for veteran center Saku Koivu. Throughout the season, it had been clear that the Ducks' front office was never entirely comfortable with their depth chart at the center position. Koivu, whose well-rounded game fits the Ducks' MO, is expected to jump into the #2 center role immediately.
