I honestly believe they already have this mentality. They need help, all of our bad contracts don't expire until the next offseason. An NHL ready pick would help tremendously. **** competing for ninth place next year.
I don't think there are any possible NHL ready picks. Gotta say Yak is probably closest and I can't believe CLB gives that pick up
So for the entire season up until 2 weeks ago Leaf fans were dreaming?
Leafs have a patent on season ending slumps.
Usually our slumps start in November and just took us out of the running every time and our post ASG record was good when there wasn't much pressure to win and make the playoffs.
This time around we started off great and just jumped off a cliff Post ASG (the time where we usually do good).
I think pressure took a hold of this team and strangled them.
I would take a wait and see approach at this time before making such a claim 18 games is a lot of hockey still to be played. You could be right and you could be very wrong a win tonight and things could change just as fast as this swoon dive the Leafs are on.
Wait and see is all I have to say and whatever happens happens. My prediction is if the Leafs win tonight they will get on a win streak that is usually the trend that happens when a team is in such a swoon after a win a streak follows and I'm afraid this 3rd last thing is what will prove to be Infeasible
While you and many others believe the franchise will be saved with a top 3 pick in this draft which your entitled to believe I have no opinion on that, me I happen to believe the draft is a crap shoot and take a wait and see approach to how prospects develop cause draft day is nothing but a hyperbole anyway you cut it as far as I'm concern It could pay off big time like you hope but it could also be Aki Berg or Chad Kilger just to name a few.
For the most part I want to see game 82 with Montreal have a meaning where you win you make the playoffs that would be entertaining and hope will happen the draft pick will be whatever it will be it's in the scouts hands and wont judge it until I see whomever they pick play at the pro level
I don't like Steckel in that 3rd spot, as I think he lacks the foot speed to be a top shut down guy. If Carlyle can get Connolly going I wouldn't mind seeing:
Kulemin - Connolly - Armstrong
Brown - Lombardi/Steckel - Crabb/Lombardi
I'm actually interested to see these line combos. I'm glad they are trying a few different things and see how it works. That line of Kulimen, Steckel, Connolly could either go very well or very poorly.
I'm not impressed that Franson is the one sitting out though. He's proven himself and has been pretty consistent all year long. Komi has gots to go.
I'm not putting any expectations on Carlyle until at least 10 games in. It's difficult to implement any defensive system with these players. That being said, even if we tank the next 20 games, I'd be fine.
