Pretty well the way I feel. Getting these guys to be responsible defensively isn't going to be done overnight.

what? Its been said over and over that he matches lines. So the 1st line will be the shut down line of the 1st line of the other team lol. Steckel if on the 3rd line will face other teams 3rd lines

Carlyle likes the cycle right? Steckel wins the faceoff and Kulemin and Connolly are good at cycling. Puck retention from the faceoff is so key

Next 5 or so games after this one are going to be against tough teams so hopefully they build momentum today.

didn't Anaheim's 3rd line play against teams' top lines?

pretty sure Nieds - Pahlsson - Moen played against top lines...but could be wrong.

I hate cheering for my team to lose, so I am going to put my faith in making the playoffs.

That being said, if we don't turn it around in the next 5 games, tank baby tank! I'd love to have Galyenchuk from my hometown Sting! (though he's no Yakupov!)

No man.. Philly used to do that when they had Mike Richards on their top line, but I don't recall any other team do it.

The commonplace is to match your 3rd line against their top line.

Even as a tanker that would be very enjoyable to watch. I'd give up all my tank hopes in return for someone laying Subban right out.

I want the playoffs. If we suck and get a decent chance at a lottery pick then so be it, but I want the damn playoffs!

Go Leafs Go!

No, real fans don't like having an embarrassment for a team go out there and stink it up every season and then have nothing to show for it in the end except for another year of crap hockey.

I hope your pride has been worth it. We've been going on nearly 7 years of no playoffs and we're still not a team that's even close to competing. You honestly have found all these 9th place runs fun?

Maybe building through the draft won't work for us, but hey, at least it's something we haven't ****ing tried yet. We've tried the JFJ and the Burke version of retooling "on the fly", and this team is still the laughing stock of the league.

Florida is likely gonna make the playoffs this year and then guess what? Longest cup drought and only team to not see playoff action post-lockout. At least you got your pride though right?

Can we all agree that the tank takes a hiatus tonight? Let it rest and come back with a vengeance next game.

if the one someone posted is correct it's Lombardi in for Armstrong, Komisarek in for Franson.

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
Mac - Grabovski - Frattin
Kulemin - Steckel - Connolly
Crabb - Lombardi - Brown

Gunnarsson - Phaneuf
Liles - Komisarek
Gardiner - Schenn

Gustavsson

You are correct. Nieds - Pahlsson - Moen shut down opposing teams top lines for Carlyle.

That's how he matches lines, you won't see him sending out the Kessel line to shut down the Sedin's.

I don't think you fully understand the concept of a 3rd line in the Carlyle/Burke understanding. The third line is constructed to be a hard forechecking line with attention to defensive detail, or player trailing. This isn't going to be a Ron Wilson run and gun 3rd line we've been seeing.

This should be an exciting game with Leafs players having a real spark.

Losing to the Habs at any time, leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Go Leafs Go.

Anyone know what 're-assigned' means? Was Zettler sent to the Marlies or something?

I'm surprised that not one Leafs player has said anything negative about Wilson...
