Is this the only time the Maple Leafs have hired a coach that had previously won a Stanley Cup before he came to Toronto?

Edit: Just looked it up, he is.

Crazy when you think about it.

Punch Imlach was technically re-instated as the head coach for a while in the 1979-80 season.

Another question:

How many NHL coaches have won Stanley Cups in more than one NHL city?

Scotty Bowman
Dick Irwin
And?

No, the giving up two blue chip prospects was tragic. Kessel is a hell of a player, but that's a hefty price.

To put it in terms you may understand, it's like giving up Gardiner for Nash. You may be able to justify it, but it's a heavy price to pay.

Agreed. I actually think MTL isn't that bad for him. They might actually work to fit his style too with their rather mobile D now that Gill is gone.

They were actually more successful that year than this one.
I said Kessel's 2nd year if you can't read. The year when Boston was and 8th place team and the only 2 forwards to score over 50 points were Savard and Sturm.
