Leafs looked much better in the eyes of a neutral. Lot more jump, more aggressive on the forecheck, simpler breakouts, collapsing more and a coach who was doing some coaching instead of just looking pissed off. Simplifying is the way to go when you are a bit lost.
If Ashton, Biggs, Ross were 2-3 years more advanced in their development, we could look like the Rangers this year. This is the style I envisioned when Burke took over. Just need more horses to play it.
They still need another top-6 center, but I do think that is what Burke is aiming for. Carlyle is as close to Tortorella as you can get in terms of style/experience.
Add some size to the bottom-6 and a relatively consistent goaltender, and the Leafs are a solid, solid team, IMO.
