that's not uncommon at all. i think carlyle got a multi-year extension this year as well. Now some would whine about DL stabbing in the back if he did it, but I think it has to be understood as part of the territory

So you'd rather have the Ducks win a game which now gives them total energy and inspiration to beat the Kings tonight? Ducks know that they win tonight and they are 2 points behind the Kings and 5 points out of the playoffs. Guess who is going to be playing more inspired hockey tonight?

Had they lost last night's game to Calgary they would have been totally dispirited coming into LA today. Meanwhile, Calgary is not a threat anyway...Dallas and Colorado are the teams to beat.

No if the Flames win they wil jump ahead of us! So that means another team to we have to leap frog in order to make the playoffs! I'm not worried about the sucks! And Calgary is a threat, they've been playing a lot better as of late.

The Kings know they're only 3 points out of the playoffs. If Calgary won, THEY would be a point ahead of the Kings. What the hell is your point? You just continue to try to find something just to be negative. The Ducks will always want to beat the Kings, it's a rivalry, it doesn't matter if they're 5 points behind the playoffs or 25 points points behind, they will have the energy to play their rivals.

The Ducks have about the best record in hockey since the beginning of the year and they'll be 2 points behind the Kings if they win tonight. I'm much more worried about them than Calgary at this point.

Are you kidding? They would be more fired up to beat the Kings because they would need even more points to make the playoffs and would be more desperate.

Why is that negative? Did you see the team emotion after they won the game last night? They are PUMPED. Had they lost they would have come into tonight very dispirited and with the knowledge that they probably didn't have a chance to make the playoffs. They are MUCH more dangerous now after that win...especially since it will be their 2nd game in 2 nights.

Rivalries or not, there is human emotion to consider...they will be much more intense tonight because of the win last night.

I would be more worried about the Kings. If the Kings continue to win, they will make the playoffs. They have 11 games against team ahead of them in the playoffs. You want the teams closest to them to lose.

For the Ducks to get to 94 points, they still have to go 13-2-2.

Totally disagree...you think after losing 3 in a row and playing their 2nd game in 2 nights that they would have been mentally ready for tonight? Whatever.

So you would much rather have another team jump ahead of us in the standings! Everyone behind should be behind us! As long as we keep moving forward! Only logic!

The Ducks aren't making the playoffs. They need to go 12-3-2 to get to 92 points and that ain't happening.

Gang.. we spend more time moderating this thread because people get stuck on tangents and move from discussing what's happening around the league to intentionally stirring up disputes and hijacking the thread. Trolling or thread hijacking are not allowed.

It's not a fine line either. It's evident when someone is posting just to ****-stir and it won't be tolerated.

Thanks...

Doesn't matter re: Ducks vs. Flames:

as far as which team won last night. Both have teams ahead of them and what we don't want is for too many 3 pt games to those fighting us for the 8th spot,

I only root for the Ducks if it helps our cause, and last night was neutral,

we need to worry about our play, our games, and our O,

and not about what other teams do as we have no control over that,

if we play .750 or higher, we get in, if not, then probably not,

odds are against us but so were the odds in 1980 for the U.S. Hockey team in the Olympics...

Johnson looks a lot more like the player I saw in Michigan right now.
