I can't imagine a practice punishment skate harsh enough after this foul-up. Yes the game was out of hand but have some pride out there!
According to GR, the Cats are off today because they stayed over in Winnipeg. They should have been made to take a cattle car home instead of flying back, IMO.

Reason: update
Flying W. Jovo at the goal line and Wiess on his ass after a prayer pass across the middle. Props to the Winnipeg Dmen for jumping up so quick after the pass was picked off. Our other 2 forwards were in the wrong place at the wrong time lol.
Just curious but where in that clip of the 5 on 1 do you see a lack on pride.
Your down 4 in the 3rd so you take chances. Just backfired on them.
Matthias and Santorelli were fighting for position in front of the net.
Wolski has the puck in the faceoff circle. He could have shot but he elected to try and hit a pinching Jovo with the back door pass which is a play you see all time.
Wiinpeg makes a nice pick off on the pass and deflects it up ice and everyone of them see it and react.
Jovo makes a wide turn to keep his speed to try and get back.
Matthias immediately starts skating hard back but he was in behind the D trying to get position infront of the Winnipeg goal when it started anticipating a shot from Wolski.
Wolski is tripped after he made the pass. So he was out of it.
And Santo was coming out of the corner to the front of the net.
I do not see that as a lack of pride. I just see one team pressing for a goal and the other team making a very nice play to pick off the puck and start a rush.
Very rare however to see 5 players react at the same time like that.

It was pond hockey not ice hockey being played at that moment. Yes, it was 3-0 but there were still 15 minutes to go. You take chances at that point but it's too early to completely sell out your defensive responsibilities. You do that when you're down one with a minute to go or down two with two minutes to go and pull your goalie. It was WAY TOO EARLY for that sloppy of a play.
My favorite part on NHL on the fly was how they said Gudbranson can't let that pass get trough. Yeah Guddy you have to contain all 5 of them or you're not playing good defense..... They need to get a clue.

The very fact that Gudbranson was there made him smarter than any Panther on the ice outside of the goalie. There is no way to defend that. When you allow something like this, you've given up for the night. That was pretty clear. I can still admit it was still amazing to see that.

I think it was just a matter of circumstance.
What do you see as the poor part of the play. Jovo looking for the backdoor chance, Wolski passing instead of shooting, Matthias working for position in front, Santo coming out from behind the net, What?
That play is attempted all the time by every team. In this case the pass was picked off and it just happenned that every Winnipeg player was facing the right way at the right time to break towards our net. Take another look at the clip at the very beginning and watch the movement of the Winnipeg players.
Call it a bad pass, maybe not a good pinch if you want but I think to say they had no pride is silly.

Laying down would have eliminated that goal instead of trying the stick on the ice, this is taught to defense from the minor hockey level. Obviously 5 is impossible to cover but I understand what they are saying having played the position my whole life.

with all of those passing options, i think lying down would've been a poor choice. might have been something your coaches talked about but that's not something generally taught - it's an all-or-nothing proposition and that's why you don't see guys doing it that often, at any level.
Then again, Theo did almost stop it as it bounced in off his pad. Now that would had been an embarrassment for Winnipeg!!!
Guds nearly disarmed the rush with his poke check - he managed to maintain his composure and did the best he could, and it was pretty damned good for a rookie. So at least in the bad we have the good of knowing we've got the makings of an immensely talented defensive defenseman on the team.
