Mike Fisher to wear the "A"

per facebook per twitter. Fisher to be alternate captain along with Suter. I figured Legwand, but still not a bad choice. Kind of surprising considering his short tenure here thus far.

I think it has to do with what type of locker room guy he is. From what I hear in Ottawa, he was the model player, a great leader and example. I think I remember seeing where last season in the playoffs a lot of players learned a lot from him. We need that with all the youngsters.

Didn't he wear the A in Ottawa too?

I approve. Fisher was born to wear a letter.

Fisher = letter material.
Every game as a Senator he was all out, 100% intensity, even when injured. He knows how to pump up the team by example.

if the captain is out there will be three A's issued.

Can also happen if the team hasnt decided on a captain yet again issuing three A's

I wish it was Leggy, and apparently Fisher won it over Erat. Leggy wasnt even the runner up

I remember after Kimmo left and there was an opening for the Captain's position, Willy interviewed Leggy at the "Save the Team" rally. He asked Leggy about becoming the new Captain, and #11 mentioned something about it being an honor, but he's more about doing his job. Of course, Arny got the "C" for some reason, so maybe that's something Leggy just doesn't desire. There's no doubt in my mind at least, though, he IS a leader of this team in many ways.

I imagine Legwand to be the guy that shuts the entire locker room up with one word then goes on to make a rousing speech that brings tears to everyone's eyes.

Example: Debate about who messed up on what play. Legwand stands up, simply says "No." and the entire team just stops what they're doing and looks at him in awe. Then he gives a Churchill-esque speech. The team rallies back and wins the SCF.

All joking aside, my point is that while he doesn't wear the C or the A, he probably has a few metric tonnes of respect in the locker room -- enough that the C or A really doesn't matter.

Fisher's 15% shooting% is currently better than his career best. Fisher could hit 50 points despite missing 9 games. He has earned his letter this season.

Absolutely. He gives it his all every night. If not for Weber, he would be my choice for captain.

Having good numbers shouldn't have anything to do with wearing a letter. I look at the way Fisher plays and the example he sets on the ice as a bigger reason he has that letter. Glad to see he is putting up numbers, but the letters are more about leadership than shooting % and goals scored.

Sounds like a dream I had recently.

Like most of you, I would rather see Legs with the A, but Fisher isn't a bad second option at all. I watched him in Ottawa and he's full of character.

Legwand should definitely not wear an A (yes, surprise I know). There are reasons Trotz/Poile have never really consider him for it. Fisher is the right choice.
