If Petr Sykora retires this offseason, the Devils will be right back to where they were before the season started -- horrific right winger depth. (Actually, it'd probably be worse, given the departure of Palmieri in the Zids trade).
If that happens, I would love to acquire Ryan. Maybe something like Ryan for Zajac+Burlon+2nd?
A top-6 of Kovalchuk-Elias-Zubrus, Parise-Henrique-Ryan would be rock solid.
I'm extremely leery about giving up Zajac, but let's just see what the Ducks fans think.
lol no. I don't see the point of moving Ryan unless it is for a top 4 pick, or a player of equal or better skill. Zajac isn't.
That would leave Buffalo with 3 first round picks and 2m less in Salary for the same amount of goals even though Vanek has more skill.

Nope. The Ducks overpay and need a center more than a winger. Also the point of the thread was if a team with top 5 pick wants to trade it and a prospect for Ryan (which isn't a good move for the Ducks either). Trading Ryan and first doesn't make sense in terms of this thread or otherwise.

The only way I want to part with Ryan is in some sort of deal for a NHL experienced center, not a 18 year old rookie who has never played in the NHL before.

Maybe he assumed that you would see Selanne in his avatar and understand what team he was speaking for. Maybe it was transparent enough for everyone else to figure out, too.

What's wrong with you? a boats a boat but the mystery box could be anything! it could even be a boat, and you know how much I've wanted one of those.
I was a big proponent of the idea of trading Jordan Staal for Bobby Ryan for the last couple of seasons. judging by this season though, I'm not so sure anymore. I would still absolutely love Ryan on the Pens, but there's no way he'd come without Staal gone the other way. point is, if offered Staal, Murray would probably do it, imo.
If Bobby Ryan was the equivalent of himself except a centre, I would do those deals in a heartbeat. Although we could use a PWF winger with size like Ryan the only way we should move assests like those would be for a # 1 C.
