True but Suters takeaways have also gone down while Webers have gone up. Go figure.

I'm resurrecting this thread since the Klein topic is hot again. Please try to keep at least the bulk of the talk in here.

The reason you see his name keep popping up is it's the trade deadline, and that's when teams look to upgrade their weaknesses.

Some people view Klein as a weak #3 dman so it's very likely his name will come up in discussions on how to improve in the team, which is basically every thread these days.

Dear Kevin Klein,

It's not your fault. You're doing what you know best to do. But you are not a good #3 dman. It's unfortunate we have to play you as one.

It's about to be the playoffs and we will face teams with deep scoring lines. Suter and Weber can't handle it all. You will have to go up against top competition, as you did vs Chicago and Vancouver.

Assuming you are still our #3 dman, please just screw up less.

Thanks a million.

Which is exactly why I said "the bulk of the talk" and not "all of it". Discussions branching off into different directions is fine, but far too often a topic that is hotly disputed between two sides will turn every active thread into a discussion of the same thing. We really need to get better at keeping threads as close to the topic as we can so that those who have no interest in the debate can still keep up with and discuss it.

Isn't Klein the number 5 on this team now?

I absolutely agree with this. Gill is our #3, Josi is our #4 (and they're close). Klein is 5. Frankie is 6.

Klein isn't our #3 dman.

I don't think trotz is really rolling a true 2nd pair or 3rd pair. More like we have a 1st pair, and then equalize the other 2 pairs as 2a and 2b.

Agree, Vancouver and Dallas games Klein-Bouillon had more ice time, St Louis game Gill-Josi had more ice time. It really just depends on match ups and how the other team is rolling their lines.

Had a "setback" this week. I presume that means his upper body injury is the dreaded concussion. Not expected to play Tuesday against the Kings.

Hillen is doing a good job filling in so I doubt the Preds are in a rush for Klein to come back. Let him take his time and come back 100%,

The question is, how much longer is Bouillon going to go without being sat a game or two or three or more. He has been terrible in the last half dozen games or so. Can't keep to get his feet going during critical times of the game. His butt is on the ice too often.

Thought I'd mention something about Klein that I find amazing. 4 penalty minutes for the season. Not saying he's perfect by any means and he has his moments of brain farts on the ice but 2 minor penalties for the season? That is pretty impressive for a defenseman. Once again, not defending him or his play, just thought that was pretty amazing.

It's especially impressive for a shutdown defenseman who plays 20+ minutes per night against the top talent in the league.

Klein maybe: Coach Barry Trotz said defenseman Kevin Klein was “fairly close” to returning for Nashville’s game against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday. Klein has missed the Predators’ last seven contests with an “upper body” injury.

upper body = concussion or no? when it comes to those, if its not a definite yes ill be in the lineup.. I just assume they are out. no need to come back if uncertain with a concussion.

Upper body can mean anything from a lower back issue to an ear infection to a concussion, but, yes, I'm pretty sure Klein had a concussion.

Upper body means just that: any injury above the waist. Shoulder, wrist, neck, head, etc.
