May I make a suggestion? You said you wanted to sit down by the benches. DON'T! Those are the worst seats in the house. Players constantly standing up, the glare of the glass... you really can't sit in worse seats. You won't be able to see the whole game and you will be straining your eyes any time the puck is at either end of the ice.
If you must sit in the lower sections, at least sit towards the top of the lower sections. The best place to sit is really in the middle sections (200's at the coliseum) towards center ice.

Hope this helps.
very very very true
If you want to just see what it's like to sit by the benches what you can do is during warmups you can go down there and just see. 200s is where it's at. You're very close, but you're on top of the action, so you'll be able to see the whole game. it's a much better view.
Thanks junkie. So.... Advice is 200s and just pay on the day?
For the Islanders, yes. There will be plenty of seats available day of game. For the Devils, it's hit or miss. They either sell out or are close to selling out. If you go day of game, only seats all the way up may be available. As for the rangers, get your tickets in advance. No such thing as game day sales at the garden.
My advice... you are coming from overseas. Get your tickets in advance. Nothing worse than flying across the Atlantic only to not be able to get seats.
Decided on impulse that I want to check out the upcoming Devils game next Saturday at your place but since I've never been there, I have some standard rookie questions.
What seats do you think are good price to get? I'm on Stubhub and seeing seats in section 120-123("Lower VIP Defend Endzone") for 55-60 + fees. Also seeing 325 ("Upper VIP Center") for 48 + fees and upper deck seats for as low as 10 bucks. Not sure what's a good seat and what's a bad seat. Kind of spoiled by the relatively small arena the Devils play in where just about every seat is a great view. I see a section G2 and read somewhere in this thread that it comes with free food/drinks?
Also, how much is parking? I'm sure the further away I park, the cheaper the price. Any tips?
Lastly, where does the visiting leave for the team bus? I'd like to snag some autographs if weather permits.
I'm sure I could probably find all these answers already posted in this thread, but what fun is that? Thanks in advance.

I'll see if I can answer your questions.
Parking is $10. If your there early enough you can get pretty close to the building and not have to walk a mile. If you get there REAL early you can even get in before the parking booths start collecting money.
The visiting team usually stays at the Marriot across from the Coliseum. It's maybe 100 yards or so from the building.
As for seats. I would definitely stay away from any of the "on the ice" seats. That would be any of the 100's row A or B. They are too low and you can't see anything. Plus you get a lot of foot traffic going in front of you. The absolute best seats are the mid-ice 200's. But those are sometimes hard to get. Upper 100's are good. 200's are great. 300's are not bad either. People always call them the nose bleed seats but you can actually see really well from there. And sometimes you can get 300's for like $12 a ticket from stubhub.
As far as pricing goes. You should generally not be paying more than $30 a ticket for seats in the 300's unless its a rival team (Devils, Penguins, Rangers). Maybe for the upper VIP 300's, but definitely not for the Mezzanine seats. The 200's you can get anywhere from $30 to $150 a ticket. 200's are the best seats in my opinion. The 100's seem to fluctuate a lot. Lower VIP Defend and Attack can be anywhere from $30 to $90ish. They are ok seats, but because they are behind the goals, it can sometimes be hard to see. Stay away from Rows A & B. Even though they are "on the ice" the views absolutely suck. Behind the goal and behind the benches. You simply can not see enough. And there is too much foot traffic going back and fourth. Lower VIP Center (100s) go usually $40-$80 a pop. Sometimes on Stubhub you will get people trying to push them for more, just because they are close to the benches. Again if you actually want to SEE the game, don't get those.
I've gotten the Lower VIP End tickets for $40 each off stubhub.

Cool. Thanks for the info.
At what point in the Center 300's does the view become obstructed? That's the common complaint I've seen regarding the seats. Would row K be good?
going to devils isles tomorrow and sitting in 102x. do they have food included or anything since i see its in the "elite club"? if not, what makes it elite? thanks
Have a newbie question even though I've been to many, many games at the barn. Have the option between Upper VIP Center right at center ice in 323 or the Arena Suites in G12... Anyone ever sat in the Suites seats?
Going to be at the Bruins and islanders game on March 31st. I'm sitting in the 200's.
Anyways..any advice on food at the arena...I won't have time to eat before the game
What about the proshop...any deals usually on shirts etc...would they have Boston stuff for sale too?
How much are 50/50 tickets?
And finally any tips?
Thanks in advance
Food is overpriced. $9.50 for a beer. $5.50 for a bottle of water or soda. Never bought anything but Carvel or a pretzel. Everything else will probably make you hurl. There is a nice restaurant downstairs. If your going to eat before the game, you could try there. The concourse food is just gross.
Pro-Shop only has Islanders stuff if I recall. Prices are about average. No great deals to be had.
I think the 50/50 tickets are $10? Or that might be the "toss a puck" game they have between 2nd and 3rd period.

Theyre not really "suites", theyre just a private box of seats in the arena. Your view of the ice in 323 is better than G12, which is 306, but the view from 306 is still very good, and you get as much free food as you want. For that reason alone, I would probably go with the suite.

I opted to go with 323 for the cheaper price (try not to really get many concessions at sporting events anymore, being a broke college), wanting to sit somewhere other than loudville for a game. We had row B in 323 which was awesome. The only reason I was confused is because I didn't know whether the seats were those boxed off seats that you were talking about or that red row of seats at the back of each 200 level section with the mini tv's. Thanks for clearing it up though. At least I had a better seat to see that meltdown...
