One of her sons, Brody, 8, reminded her of an upcoming family sharing day at school and wondered whether his dad would be able to attend.

She reminded him that Brian wouldn't be at home but playing for the Bruins.

"Oh, that's right. He's going to be playing for the Cup so that's OK," he replied.

Too funny...

Two things:

1) It's a little depressing how excited Motteau and Rolston were to escape from Long Island.

2) Every trade deadline you hear stories about the horrible toll that being traded takes on players and their families, and every trade deadline I call B.S. You get paid millions of dollars a year to play a game, and you expect me to feel bad because you have to work on the road for 3 months?

I understand that it sucks to be away from your family. If it bothers you that much, get a regular job like the rest of us. Otherwise, I don't want to hear the whining.

After reading this, I'm happy that Mottau wound up in Boston. He may have been brutal on the ice, but he was a good teammate from all reports. As for Rolston, any positive feeling I had for him disappeared when he threw the Isles under the bus and complained that he didn't get ice time when he was here. I expected more from a long time veteran in the NHL.

Same. Good for Mottau. Rolston is a *****. Didnt get a fair shot? is the guy kidding me? He played top 6 minutes all year and the point on the PP for most of the year until the coaching staff finally realized he is ****ing brutal. What a loser.

he did the same thing to new jersey when he left there.

he's in denial that he just cant play anymore, so its clearlllyy the islanders fault for not playing him enough. good grief.

I agree about Mottau, but Rolston can kiss off! The guy got more minutes then he should have gotten.

totally agree. Rolston was HORRIBLE, so glad hes gone and we can give a guy like cizkas --who actually cares-- a shot. i remember when rolston was traded here he said the same type of thing.

I suppose but they went to the defending stanley cup champions. This article would have the same quote from any player on any other NHL team.

I was coming here to post these exact two thoughts. Must be Xmas morning leaving the Isles and if you made $30k/year, I'd have more sympathy. Literally pulled up Capgeek midway through reading about Zanon - $1.9M! Not saying it's not hard and definitely not saying they don't deserve every pay they make, but trying to tug on the heart-strings when you're playing a game for living and getting paid real well to do it, try to sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

Both players were equally awful this year and the 2 worst players on the team, maybe outside of Tim Wallace or Ty Wishart, so the fact that they had takers is astounding.

Mottau seemed shocked that anyone would want him, his wife was shocked, probably thinking "who would want my undersized slow washed up husband... " LOL, but he is going to his home town and he has a right to be ecstatic for that and that he had a taker.

As for Rolston, he sucked he made Trent Hunter seem like Cam Neely, I mean he was almost as washed up as Witt was in his last year, I think he would struggle to get picked in the 2nd round in the Dix Hills rec league. He should be licking Cappy and Snow's nuts for playing him at all this year. For him to make an inside joke about Long Island shows bad taste. At this rate he will be coaching in the NHL by 2014 as Kirk Muller and Dale Hunter are coaches. I can see if this was Nabokov saying these things after a trade because of the lack of support at times, but not a player that would have hard time getting 4th line minutes on the Sound Tigers.

I didn't hear what Rolston said about the Isles because I was away for the weekend. So what exactly did he say?
