This obviously means that Jimmy is going to be out for a few days again and there is absolutely no faith left in Conklin.

I must admitt that I am suprised by the Conner call up, unless Bert is not going to be able to go either.

Conner will help of course but a healthy dose of Conner, Mursak, Nyquist and Smith might get ths team to start skating for a full 60 mins.

I think they sent him back down immediately after the game. Now they have to call him back up. Wonder if we can bring Fraser up to coach for awhile. Hell, it's half the Griffins squad on the ice anyway.

Must mean that Bertuzzi is still feeling it and might sit out as a precaution.

Yes, it's Bert with a groin issue.

So we have injuries to Datsyuk, Lidstrom, Howard, Eaves, Kindl, Ericsson and possibly Bertuzzi. 7 regulars injured, good thing we have depth, or else we'd be completely ****ed. I just hope they're all going to be back before the playoffs.

Did anyone else see Datsyuk skating yesterday at the Joe? I am not a medical doctor but he did not look like he will be ready in a few days to make that west coast trip. I heard Mickey Redmond say that Datsyuk plans on taking his sunscreen with him on the trip....not a good sign

With Eaves there's nothing to suggest a timetable when he'll be back. Tough to expect him to return this season which is too bad. With Howard if its his groin they are going to be super cautious which is a good idea. He's up there with Lids and Pavs and Hank as our best guys whom we need to rely on if we're going to have a long playoff run.

There's nothing to suggest Pavs, E, Lids will be out for very long. With Kindl and Bert we have no idea but if we're honest we'll admit they are very small pieces of the puzzle and we have much better replacements available. I just wish Nyquist would get a call up. As good as Smith has been I think Gus would do just as well if not better.

IMO, this has nothing to do with faith with Conklin. Pearce will only be a back-up, and we keep those winning starters (MacDonald at NHL, Conklin at AHL) playing at both level.

I've been wondering if he's going to make it back for next season. Last I heard, he was still having headaches every day.

Conklin has went down and really stabilized the goaltending in GR. He was mediocre at best up here, but if he can go down and give the kids someone they can rely on in goal, it could do them a world of good.

So according to NHL.com, Z's playing through a lower-body injury. Not sure what to think of it, but I hope he doesn't sit out.

Here's the link, just scroll down to the last paragraph.

Yeah, he was a GTD a few weeks ago. I'm sure he'll sit a few down the stretch.

Frankly Bertuzzi was doing nothing anyway, and given the choice I'd take energy and speed with limited offense over a lumbering big body with limted offense.

Yeah that's my take and it's probably why they kept Nyquist in the A. He can help them attempt to claim a playoff spot.

Pearce up!

http://griffinshockey.com/news/relea...rticle_id=2107

Quote:
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Monday recalled left wing Chris Conner, defenseman Doug Janik and goaltender Jordan Pearce from the Grand Rapids Griffins. Additionally, the Red Wings reassigned goaltender Tom McCollum to Grand Rapids from the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye, while the Griffins recalled defenseman Bryan Rufenach from Toledo.
Very Interesting....
