why? what exactly is Scott going to do to stop them?

Did he stop Lucic from pounding Prust? Did he stop Lucic from punching MCD a few times like that? No. he doesnt do anything to stop anyone, and he wont. because of the instigator rule. Rangers arent going to take an instigation penalty in the playoffs.

What I stated and again, stand by that statement is that he doesn't pick the fight with Rupp or Scott in that spot.

Rupp challenges him? I believe he first tried to skate away, if that doesn't work, I can see him going with either Rupp or Scott.

He's a cherry picker, always has been, probably always will be.
I agree with where you're going and he is a cherry picker. Though I think it should be said that picking Prust was also tactical. The Bruin fan who thinks Scott is the only Ranger who could beat him--is wrong. Prust edged him actually last year and Rupp could just as well win a fight with Lucic as lose it. Lucic had a huge size and reach advantage over Prust. Not so with Rupp. Anyway as a tactic it kept the momentum of his team going at that point. Taking a chance of losing to Rupp very well could have at least temporarily demoralized his team.

I don't really at this point consider Milan to be a real legit heavyweight. Given the right circumstances he can take on most anybody but against some he would need a lot of luck to win and there are guys he's not going to be able to hurt. Toughest guys IMO right now are McGrattan and McIntyre.

As for the potential of a Scott-Lucic fight--Milan is going to (should) try to avoid it. 1) he's a much much better player and it doesn't help his team 2) there's potential he would get clobbered which also hurts his team if not himself. 3) if the issue were forced Scott gets all the extras--whether it's penalties, fines or suspensions.

And as far as Scott just jumping and whaling on him as one poster has it--teeth flying etc.--this is mostly fantasy land. Most fights don't get there. Someone with a clue is usually able to protect himself a bit--at least long enough for the calvary to show up--officials, teammates. Might get banged up and bruised but not too many fights end with serious injury to either combatant.

I like players like Evander Kane, Doan and Iginla more than the Lucic type of guys. Play the game hard, play the game clean. Don't give the goaltender a concussion and spit on the logo because you don't know what respect means. I'd take Lucic on the team, of course, but as I've constantly said he's not on my team so when he's gooning it up my guys are in danger. No respect for that ****.

Those were isolated incidents. You saw against us in the finals they took advantage of an obviously smaller and not as rugged team.

Like I said, if you get up a game or two on them in a series, you will be glad you have Scott for when they thug it up.

rangers are just tougher in general than the Canucks.

Team toughness>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>1 tough guy.

Rangers are a tough team with or without scott in the lineup.

I never had any respect for Ryan Hollweg and I won't have any respect for Lucic unless he knocks off the p***y cheapshots.

It doesn't take any toughness to wail on unsuspecting players. Guys who turn you around, say "let's go," and drop the gloves are tough. Punching a guy's head into the glass and then starting **** when you know you aren't going to have to answer for it because the game is over is bush league.

Hank is 17-6-2, 1.75 GAA, .935 sv% with 5 shutouts at the Garden this season. Clearly the lights are affecting his performance.
Old man Timmy needs to shut his yap.

I understand what you mean, but there is a reason why we got Scott. Scott will be told to go after Lucic or Chara, important players to Boston, like Simmonds and Hartnell with the Flyers. He will be there for the regular season games at least, and selective playoff games. Sometimes you've got to lose the battle to win the war...

Jim Cerny ‏ @JimCerny
Did Lucic spit on the Ranger logo at center ice after the game?

Jim Cerny ‏ @JimCerny
A few fans saw him do it. Boyle/Prust were talking to him about it

Keep it classy Lucic!

You know I used to hate Parkman when he was with the A's. It's amazing how a new uniform can change your attitude about a guy.
I feel we would all follow this ..minus Breasher. But until he's in a Rangers' jersey screw Lucic.

if we get to the ECF's Scott will not sniff game action.

the Rangers give as good as they get.

Having a guy like Scott in the line up would hurt the Rangers more than any post whistly scrum the Bruins may try.

The Rangers are pretty impressive. Their game is nothing fancy, just honest blue collar hard hat hockey and no quit. The work ethic is really there and nobody is being selfish. Go Rangers!

Tell them to come talk to me when Nathan Horton means as much to his team as Ryan Callahan does to the Rangers.

that was the best and most beautiful hit i've seen all season. and the fact that it was on lucic made it all the better. girardi is so good at timing, keeping his body low and knowing when to hit/when to pokecheck, lay flat on the ice, etc. he has become one of the toughest dmen in the league. i've actually been looking for a vid of this hit today. someone please find it!
