Jakub Kindl - Upper-Body Injury

Quote:
The Red Wings played almost the entire game with five defensemen after Kindl left in the first period with an upper-body injury. He logged only 1:35 in two shifts.

Babcock said Kindl was sore coming into the game and the team should have erred on the side of caution and held him out. He did not know the extent of the injury.
Looks like we'll be seeing Mr. Janik again.

At least Smith will get more playing time.

We get a softie outta the line up and bring Janik back. I really like our defense and how it's more of a grittier group. It's nice to have some good size back there.

If Lidstrom can play on Tuesday, I doubt they recall Janik

Having Janik in the lineup is like only playing 5 defensemen.

Doesn't sound like it's too bad, shouldn't be out long.

Not really. He's actually pretty good. I like his crease clearing ability. Kindl is soft as **** infront of the net.

Haven't you heard mate? He's apparently soo much better than Kindl even though he's a career minor leaguer who Detroit don't and never have considered as part of their plans. So much better.

Yet Janik has still played more NHL games than Kindl.

Since I'm getting lumped in let me say I've got no problems whatsoever with skill. My criticism is for a guy like Jakub Kindl who appears to have little skill and no grit. If you disagree please reply by saying you think that right now Jakub Kindl is better than Brendan Smith.

Knock this crap off.

Those of you who can't discuss Kindl's injury and what it means to the team, stay out of the thread.

These insipid little shots at each other need to stop.

Too bad; he was just starting to come into his own the past couple of games when finally given more of a chance. Still had a boneheaded mistake or two, but he looked decent on the PP, and can really make some fine first-passes out of the zone. I'm really starting to like his play on the breakout.

Kinda strange they played him earlier, though, knowing that he was already hurt. Couldn't get Janik back in town fast enough, or what? Just hope he's not out for too long now; it'd be a shame to see his golden chance to prove himself go up in smoke because of this.

Its too bad that Kindl got injured, and I hope its minor and we get him back soon. I haven't given up on this kid, and the best way to learn in the NHL is to play lots of games in the NHL. I too thought he'd been playing well recently. Not mistake-free obviously, but playing well.

Apparently Kindl's injury came from Babcock smacking him around the back of the head saying "Stop making bonehead passes"

No, Kindl is out. That's why Janik was recalled.

If Stuart is out, we have to call Exelby there.

Thank god Philly has Pronger, Timonen and Meszaros also injured so we have quite even situation.

Eh, they shut out Washington last night with all those people out. Defensively we're about as equal but offensively they have almost no one injured. Kubina also took a nice little puck to the face last night but I think he came back and kept playing.

Sucks what happened to Kindl, besides his passing he was actually playing well and getting good mins with all these players out. These are needed mins for a guy like Smith though, tough team to play against tomorrow.

White - Kronwall
Quincey - Stuart
Janik - Smith

I assume?

A White-Kronwall pairing would be interesting. Small but mobile and lots of offensive capability.
