Is Feds pretty much finished?

8 goals
8 assists
57 games played
The only player on the roster who's a negative
Kreider coming up next year
33 years old
UFA

Anybody think this is Ruslan Fedotenko's last year here? He's been great in the playoffs, but it looks like he's out of gas.

Depends upon his performance in the playoffs. I think if Torts can get over his blind love for Johnny Malkin, he'd be the odd man out as opposed to Feds. If Feds continues to disappoint into the playoffs, then yeah, he's gone.

Yeah, I think this will be his last year with us. But I still think he has a few important goals to score before he's done. Seems like a good guy, always plays with maximum effort. Will be sad to see him go, but the spot will be better filled by a younger guy next year.

Most likely this will be his last year in a Rangers uniform, but with that being said I am expecting him to pick up his play in the playoffs. His gritty style of play and banging in the corners is more accustomed for playoff hockey.

Players like Rupp and Feds are here strictly for the playoffs. We'll see what happens.

Mitchell doesn't score a lot, but he's good along the boards and good at controlling the puck. That line spends a lot of time in the offensive zone. That has value, even if they aren't putting it in the net as much as we'd like. They help wear down the defense.

id say it safe to say this will be his last season with us but its odd timing for this post considering he was directly responsible for 2 big goals last night.

this guy will be important come playoff time in my opinion

If he struggles badly in the playoffs, I could see Kreider jumping in!

I kinda think Torts loving Johnny Malkin makes feds gonna go...and since Kreider has a shot... but he's inconsistent apparently. we'll see.

This year's Feds is last year's Prospal. Love the guy, works his ass off and cares, but the team would be much better off filling his spot with a rookie that's ready or FA acquisition that fits better.

Nah not really. He's averaging 13:50 a game, a little more than a minute less than last season. And to put that into perspective he averaged 14:06 a game in 08-09 when the Pens won the cup, and had 39 points in only 65 games. So yeah, he is definitely on the down-swing. Hopefully he can pick it up in the playoffs.

The Rangers need his rosy cheeks. Re-sign for 5 years, 3 mil per.

He was getting top six minutes just a few weeks ago. He's one of the best defensive forwards on the team. It's possible he might not be back next season, but I for one think that would be a mistake. He's not expensive, he's consistent, responsible, and a lot stronger than he looks.

He's a very nice third line player, and it doesn't hurt to have a few veterans around. The coach trusts him, too.

Way too much being made out of his offensive output, which is hardly a primary concern with a guy like him, especially on this team.

He played very well in last year's playoff series.

whos picking on him? hes a player who can be upgraded from within. Im not picking on him. hes a good solider. a good filler piece while our kids develop...but im not wasting a roster spot on him going forward.

He's a goner as far as I see it.

33 years old. Still a decent checker--good character guy but he's not particularly fast or strong anymore. He's the type of player you move out for a younger, faster guy.

Rangers left wing situation at the moment--Anisimov, Dubinsky, Hagelin, Rupp and Kreider on the way.

I don't look for him to have a huge playoffs. He's had a couple fantastic playoff seasons but he's also had others that weren't so hot.

He was a monster in the playoffs last year. Battled like a champion on the boards, was out-physicaling everyone on the Caps, didn't score but had 2 assists. He was great on the PK, but of course, he isn't a superstar so he was overlooked for what he contributed. I think he can replicate his performance of last year in this year's tournament, but I'm not saying he's going to be 2004 Fedotenko and lead the team to the Stanley Cup as a lead scorer. He's good enough for the role he is assigned on this team, which is not a top 6 scorer.

I think he will play a factor in playoffs with his experience, but hes holding kreiders spot. No need to resign him next year.

I'm with you. For my money, there are few players who do their jobs more effectively that Feds. He forces turnovers, plays the boards well, and gets the puck to the net whenever he has a chance. His defense is strong, and he definitely makes more goals happen for us than against us, regardless of what his +/- may be.

I think he'll prove very valuable in the playoffs. No way he gets the axe before or during the post season. I think it's doubtful he gets resigned next year though, yes. I'd love him back next season, but it's not the end of the world if he leaves.
