John Scott a regular in the playoffs??

i really think he will play more than people think in the playoffs....Torts used Chris Dingman for 23 games and Andre Roy for 21 games when the Bolts won the cup....

It depends on team health and potential roster additions.

I think Torts will see how much more useful Scott is than Johnny M soon.

....what?

Mitchell? thats who you are talking about? Mitchell has been a damn good player for us. His numbers arent phenomenal, but they arent terrible either for a 4th liner. He plays a solid game, has good hands, big body, and can skate. Scott can do NOTHING but fight. Hes not even a good boards player.

Agree. Would much rather have Johnny Malkin out there than Scott.

I know it's been a small sample size, but Scott is one of the worst hockey players I've ever seen. He can't skate at all and has no puck skills. I understand he's an enforcer but how much of a difference does he really make when we already have guys like Rupp, who can actually play?

And not to re-hash the Scott trade, but it was a complete waste of a 5th round pick. And I know people say "oh who cares about 5th round picks," but I can name a former 5th round pick on our roster now who is doing a pretty damn good job in a top 6 role, as a rookie no less.

edit: Hags = 6th rounder, but still same concept

Hags is a sixth rounder.

Scott was brought here to help alieviate the heavy lifting that Rupp and Prust have been doing.

He will be a waste of a roster spot on most nights in the POs

There isn't much fighting in the playoffs so I hope not. Scott is a terrible hockey player.

Mitchell, Rupp and Scott have had some good shifts cycling the puck when they get it in the offensive end.

Mitchell is a good player. Scott--not so much.

I don't expect Scott to play much in the playoffs--unless there are a lot of injuries or a series gets nasty. Otherwise I see him pretty much as an extra.

no he wont, if Cally didnt get hurt he would be sitting.

C- Richards, Stepan, Boyle, Mitchell
RW- Gaborik, Callahan, Prust , Fedotenko
LW- Dubinsky, Anisimov, Hagelin, Rupp

its pretty straight forward

Not only is he very slow, soft with the puck and most of all, nobody wants to dance with this guy so what's the point of even having him in the lineup?!? As someone said, if Cally was healthy, he'd be sitting.

The bright side for you guys is that Scott is 2 or maybe even 3 times better than he was last year. His skating is actually much improved, if you can believe it, and he can clear the puck out of the zone without taking delay of game penalties now too. He's slow as hell, and not fancy or even good, but he doesn't outright do a lot of things wrong like he used to.

Plus he's pretty much auto-win for your team in any fight.

Not sure why NYR needs him, given Rupp etc. like has been mentioned already, but he's a body that can fill in here and there, if nothing else.

Yup. I thought the only reason he was acquired was to provide us with someone who Chara would have to deal with 'eye-to-eye' and maybe tone down Lucic's antics a bit. I saw nothing out of him yesterday in either regard.
If he's not a healthy scratch *every* game im the playoffs, we're in deep s#*%.

Real shocker I know. Looks so out of place considering the plethora of 6'8, 270 lbs. speed demons.

Mitchell is a subpar hockey player. Scott is worse, though. Have him make his Rangers career these next 17 games with his fists.

I hope Torts starts using Scott as a screen on our PP. It's quite effective.

Scott is only here because he's the same size as Chara. And that's about the only reason.

Besides fighting, Scott is useless, so with no fighting in the playoffs, there's no reason to have him play.
