Jaden Schwartz is a leader and that means he'll be fine whether he's with his brother or not. Rylan kinda cooled off after a hot start and probably the Rylan/Jaden comparison is more like Steve Kariya compared to Paul. Rylan will probably get a pro contract but they're not the same caliber of player.
Didn't we sign Steve around the time we signed Paul, but he never played for us or Peoria?

Yeah, I think he stayed in Europe IIRC. Partly why I made the comparison. I'm not saying they wouldn't sign Rylan to a pro contract, just that they don't need to or anything. And, if they did, it's not like he's going to really have an NHL impact.

He can be our next Peter Sejna, ironically enough, he played at CC as well.
First game score against Patrick Roy and pretty much do nothing else after that.

Please don't say that. Peter Sejna was also an undrafted pick up unlike Mr First Round Here. He had plenty of flashes, just never meshed well in the NHL level.

Michigan Tech wins in OT. Schwartz' season is over.
He could be on Peoria's roster by the end of next week IMO. I'm sure JD or someone will be traveling to meet with Jaden and his family early next week.
Unfortunate for Jaden and the CC squad. They had a very good year, and just couldn't make it happen when it mattered.
14 games left for the Rivermen. I wouldn't be surprised to hear some rumblings from JR or AS by Monday about Schwartz. Management will be quick to get him up, the more experience the better.
Peoria plays tomorrow (Sunday) and Wednesday, and are then off until next Tuesday. Schwartz could realistically get 12 games and the playoffs with Peoria.

Isn't he limited to 9 or 10 games in the "Pro Tryout Contract"?
There are professional tryout contracts, which are basically used to go from the ECHL to the AHL, and there are amateur tryout contracts for guys who finish their college or major junior seasons before the end of the AHL season. The latter, the ATO, is what Schwartz would use if he and his agent agree. Scott Glennie (8th overall 2009) finished his junior career and did this last year.
It should be noted that while we're likely correct in assuming he's done with college hockey, he might not be. We hope he is since the clock start ticking on his rights this season either way. The Blues have his rights for seven years now, but if he stayed another year in college it's down to six (because he'd hit age 27 in six years).
I believe Schwartz would sign a PTO and be eligible for up to 25 games with Peoria. And I could be wrong, but I don't believe that would count towards his three year entry-level.
Basically, as an NCAA player, he would have to be either undrafted or a graduating senior to qualify for an ATO contract. Also, Peoria are the ones who would be signing him...not the Blues. Therefore, he couldn't sign an NHL(entry-level)contract until his current AHL PTO contract was released. And the Blues will eventually sign him to an entry-level NHL contract anyways so there is really no risk involved. It's basically a win-win for both parties. The Blues get a boost for Peoria, and a chance to evaluate Schwartz before training camp, and he gets a chance to prove himself and increase his odds of winning an NHL roster spot next season.

3 Options for Schwartz: sign PTO to play in Peoria, Blues sign him for the NHL (only if he is ready to succeed), decide to stay in college.
I believe Cole played 9 regular season games for Peoria after Notre Dames season ended and he signed a 3 year entry level deal in March of the next year. If Schwartz wants to turn pro we should see him in Peoria shortly.
Yes. It is in Schwartz's interest to show The Blues what he can do BEFORE next year's camp. He can also work with the pro coaches on his overall game, and get training tips. He can get a better idea of what he can work on before camp. Those 12 games that Backes got on his PTO gave him a great headstart in his Traverse City showing, and gave him a big advantage of most of the other rookies in his first Blues' camp.
I'm going to bet that it's an ATO and not a PTO. Kerber's not someone with his finger on the pulse of accuracy. In fact, you can ususally count on him to be incorrect. Glennie last year was on an ATO and while he came out of juniors and not college, he was 8th overall. ATOs aren't just for college seniors, they're for college players and major junior players. PTOs are for guys already playing professionally, like in the ECHL, who come up to the higher professional league, the AHL.
As far as Schwartz is concerned, there's really no difference between an PTO or ATO. Since he's currently an amateur I'm pretty sure it would be an ATO. Basically though, if he wants to, he can sign a try-out contract with Peoria to finish this season and then his ELC will start for next season (whether he's in STL or Peoria).
To Robb, no, there is no 9-10 game max. Perhaps you're thinking of the 9 game rule for 18 & 19 yr olds out of Canadian Major Jrs. If Schwartz were to play just 1 game for the Blues, it would count as a season.
Strick keeps talking about the Blues possibly signing him to play in the NHL yet this season saying that many think he's NHL ready but I just don't see it. If anything, they can sign him to an ATO and if he's so dominant in the AHL and the Blues feel he can help them, they can then sign him to an ELC at that point. I'd be pretty surprised if they simply outright signed him to an ELC and burn the first season on this season without seeing him play a single pro game.
