I'll have to look at the replay and while I agree Miller was culpable on the goal, Regehr's job is deny the front of the net to Thorburn. Thorburn skated right across Miller's crease. Regehr knows when Thorburn turns the corner that Regehr needs to transition from backwards to forwards and skate to the near post thereby denying the net to him. I don't think that happened.

I'll apolgize now if I am wrong. But my memory of the play is that Thorburn got to the net by going around Regehr with a burst of speed from the outside lane.

It looked like Miller made first save and rebound knocked in, bang bang play

I don't particularly care for Miller, but there are US-born players that I like.
When they are playing for the US team though, I do not like them.

It's always interesting watching Winnipeg Buffalo games as a Jets/Sabres fan(was Sabres 1st before my hometown team came back). On one hand I really want the Jets to win, but I find it neat to analyze the Sabres from an outside perspective.

Good
-Stafford played a good strong game, didn't end up on the scoresheet but I think he looked good out there. Maybe it would be a good idea to put him across from Vanek, set the pace and motivate him a little bit.

-Myers was a monster tonight, looked good in every zone. I know it's not Ruff's style but the way he was playing he should have logged 28 minutes tonight.

Bad
-Vanek Roy Pominville(AKA invisible players) has been tried so many times over, and never quite worked. Time to give this up. Hodgson's passing looked good tonight, why not try Vanek-Hodgson-Stafford(if you think Cody is ready for top minutes, or even just as a PP line).
-Ennis putting himself in position to score and not shooting

Ugly
-Not much, this looked like a worn out team tonight. It's a tough building for any team to win in.

Was still a great road trip, kind of had to assume wed have atleast one game where we didn't show up, the scary part though is our top line didn't show up for the whole trip

Miller only culpable because of rebound. If he could have controlled it, maybe there's no second shot.

I'm not sure he knew where it was and I'm definitely not beating up on him. Thorburn should not get to the net in the 1st place.

And maybe that is all psychological, but still true?
Roy an Pommer were playing well together with Leino in VAnek's spot. They still were doing well at first when Vanek joined them but that eventually stop.

Vanek has been sucking since the first of the year. Only half of the time he was with Roy. In fact he has better numbers during his slump with Roy than without him.

with Roy 14gms 3g 3a 6pts
without 13gms 1g 1a 2pts

Neither set of games is good enough but he was at his absolute worst without Roy centering him.

I thought he was playing injured but Hamilton talked to him today and Vanek said he just doesn't have confidence in his game right now. Hamilton aslo said he never sees Vanek getting treatments or wearing ice packs. So I guess he isn't injured.

The bottom line is Vanek needs to get is head out of his ass.

Nothing

B
Our "top line" sucks
Vanek. Has he even touched the puck lately? Put him on a different line
Out shot 31-24 and out hit again 36-18
Terrible on face offs 32-19 (Roy 4 wins on 16 draws)
Turnover after turnover

U
Mike Weber and Robyn Regehr letting their guy just go right past them

This. Miller's rebound going right back to Thorburn was unfortunate, but the primary responsibility of Regehr in that situation -- to prevent Thorburn from cutting in front of the net -- was not fulfilled.

As is the case with many goals, more than one player was responsible.

I actually watched it again and I agree Regehr has gotta make sure he doesn't let him come across the crease like that. I'll give Regehr some slack though as he's probably still hurting. I would have liked a poke check out of miller on that play though.

Miller sounds exhausted. Gotta go with Enroth on Wednesday night. Time to get back in early-season form, Jhonas.

It does not imply that people do anything to themselves, but rather that people act as if they have been personally violated.

The Jets wanted it more. Plain and simple.

Sure we were on the tail end of a west coast road trip but our effort was not there. The turnovers, the lost battles for the puck. The team just didn't have any legs.

Miller takes a lot of heat from the media, people on the boards and so forth but he competed tonight even though he's likely on E.
