Obviously you've not seen him play a single time this year. Or for that matter, last year. He had some points due to logging PP time, but was awful in his own zone. I mean Phil Housley bad.

Montreal is not the shame of the NHL in the fighting department anymore We finally have someone to answer the bell against any team

Really Montreal? Wrong guy to pick up. Talk about a useless player.

I'm surprised no one in the standings below us wanted Clitsome.

It's not like it matters anyway, we're 28th in the NHL and claimed a guy that is going to be UFA.

Montreal just wants warm bodies at this point. This is typical for a team that's out of it at the trade deadline.

I think this means Randy Jones is heading out. He's more of the 7th defenseman that Clitsome will be replacing.

Oduya has been great for us this year. I can't see us shipping him out when we're fighting for a playoff spot.

Assuming Jones leaves to try and get a top 6 gig Clitsome as the 7th is fine with me younger basically the same cap hit and with a higher ceiling. At the cost of around 200k for the acquisition don't think they can really go wrong here.

Good pickups for both the Jets and Habs getting Clitsome and Staubitz respectively.

Like most are saying, Oduya looks to be on the move now. Staubitz will add some toughness to the Habs and will drop the mitts with anyone. He'll at least bring some excitement and energy in the remaining games I'd hope, two things that have been very rare in Montreal this season. Not saying he'll win his fights but he's a willing combatant. Most importantly, he's a warm body. The Habs are selling and they need guys to fill out their roster for the rest of the season.

Can someone explain why Boston signed Turco and then put him on waivers?

He has to clear entry waivers. Same thing happened with Nabokov last year.

They signed him (to replace Rask who is injured) and because he's an UFA he has to clear waivers. It's the same situation as when Detroit signed Nabokov last season and then the NYI claimed him.

Yes, you are both right. Totally forgot about that rule.
Thanks for the reminder.

Boston don't get to put in a claim, though.
