Crosby and the habs.

This is a question i've been thinking about for a long time now. Maybe to some it seems a little farfetched but here are the facts. Sidney Crosby was a die hard habs fan growing up. He once complained about hos cake on his birthday because they were the wrong colors, his dad always had to let him be the red team on his little table hockey game, and when his father troy promised him that he would take him to a game if the Canadiens made the finals, it just so happened to be game 5 in 1993. They drove to Montreal and Sid witnessed his beloved team raising the stanley cup. Only 20,000 people ever witnessed that live, and the games greatest player was one of them. If a memory like that doesn't leave an everlasting impression, i don't know what does. So here's my question, is it realistic to believe that the habs have a shot a landing sid.

No, because Sid hasn't given any indication that he wants out of Pittsburgh. Its something we'll have to see next year when he decides if he intends to remain with Pittsburgh. If he gives any indication that he may test the open market (and he has given NONE as of now) then we can begin to speculate.

I can't seem see him ever leaving the Pens, with Mario being there and so forth. But I think we can all agree that IF Crosby ever becomes a UFA and leaves the Pens, he'll be a Hab.

If he ever left the Pens... yes, there'd be a good shot of him coming here. I don't see him leaving them though.

Maybe someday when he's over the hill I could see it. But otherwise, it's pretty much a dream.

Crosby will be a Hab when he's 37-38 years old and a shadow of his former self.

We would need to sacrifice Scott Gomez' production to make room for Crosby under the salary cap rules.

not going to lie, i have thought about this many many times, in a dream world it would work, but how many players go play for a team because it was their favourite team growing up...i feel like if he leaves pittsburgh we would be an option, but think about it, childhood dream vs a team that drafted him, he won a cup with them, friends on the team, management etc, and everything he has done for the franchise...however the only out i can see is malkin continuing to dominate and pens not paying up to crosby because of injury situation ( doubt it)

I think the best bet is that Crosby will be a life-time member of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Crosby is the face of the Penguins franchise, what he saw live as a kid he got to live it with the Penguins. I would pay a lot of money to see him here but it's not going to happen. Crosby will be a lifetime long Penguin just like Lemieux was

I've day-dreamed about this many times. I can only say that I hope it happens when he becomes UFA.

We might see him late in his career in a one or two year deal to make a push to go deep in the playoffs.

All time most worthless arguments for a player to sign with a team:

1. He was a fan of that team!
2. He is good friends with a player on this team!

It's not just a dream, it's literally the best dream.

He's the BEST player in the world. He's a centre. He's Canadian and a die-hard Habs fan. He's a winner who's won everything there is to win. He's still really young.

It's the best dream.

I wish. Let's make his agent, Pat Brisson, the next habs GM in order to have an inside chance at signing the golden boy.

Maybe the fact that he's not happy with the Pens medical team will get him to think twice about resigning there. I mean they misdiagnosed both him and Letang, which may affect both players careers.

If Gretzky can get traded, anyone can.

I am not saying Crosby will be a Hab but to say he'll be a Penguin his whole life is too early to say.

Here's the thing : If the insurance companies no longer want to cover head injuries, and Sid continues the way he is, he may be looking for a new team. So it really isn't unrealistic to think he could get here, but he would be a huge risk for any team at that point.

It is highly suggested this will be the case, and could really be a big cause for concern for future players/teams and insurance on injuries. It will change the game forever.
