Decent numbers, pretty meh if you ask me. But, I've never heard of him so if someone has actually seen him, or knows anything about him, I'd love to hear it.

Very nice. Now pick up one or two of the big forwards from the NCAA.

Well here is what I found (posted this in the prospect thread a week or so ago when someone asked abut him)

Quote:
Cal Heeter is harder to judge because, college goalies are hard to read. Depending on the conference and system the team plays, he could be a total product of the system, or be the guy carrying the team. I honestly dont know to much about Ohio's system. That being said, he was voted the 6th best goalie out of 11 teams last season by the coaches.

Ohio seems to be in a "rebuilding" stage but Heeter has won them some big games. On the other hand though, he did lose some while not playing the best (gave up 5 goals on 13 shots against Miami)

In the end, I see him getting an AHL tryout in the next few weeks (cant see Ohio going to far in the playoffs)

Still no Sunshine.

If there's no ill will between the Flyers and Sunshine, and they still went out of their way to not sign Sunshine, they made a big mistake.

Someone is going to sign Eriksson in the NHL.

Also, why do people suddenly believe Hovinen is NHL ready? I don't buy it.

SM-Ligga fans believe that Hovinen will at least be a backup next year.

Dave Isaac has a couple of quotes from Chris Pryor:

Quote:
“We got two big, young goalies who are both the same age," Flyers director of hockey operations Chris Pryor said. "It should be a good situation for both of them.”

In his 94-game career at Ohio State, Heeter went 39-36-11. The Buckeyes were ousted from the CCHA tournament last weekend by Notre Dame.

“He’s a big athletic goalie and we’re excited to have him,” Pryor said. “Ross Fitzpatrick and Neil Little both saw him a lot this year and they really like him.”

Quite frankly, I don't care what they think.

It's dangerous to just assume he is capable of being an NHL back-up right now.

The speed is faster, the angles are different, the players are bigger...

Yeah, no.

Weren't we all saying the same thing about Bob??

I trust the Flyers scouting. The have found a couple of gems like Read and Bob who people didn't think would be in the NHL right away, but are playing and playing well. I don't know what they have in store for next year, but my guess would be something like this

NHL:
Bryz
Bob

AHL
Heeter
Hovinen(first call up if our goalies get injured)

Sorry, didn't mean to come off angry.

Just authoritative.

Yeah, I don't trust Hovinen to make an immediate impact on the Flyers. No one should, especially when Bobrovsky is cheaper than Hovinen next year.

agree

i have no doubt that Hovinen can be at least and NHL backup, or rather, im not questioning that he can be, it just that the game is very different.

Unless you're Henrik Lundqvist or Niklas Backstrom, you're going to require some getting used to the North American game when you make the jump.

IMO, what will most likely happen is Hovinen will be brought over with the intentions of having him start for the phantoms, and Heeter, Bacashihua and whoever else will battle for the backup job.

The scouts also found Gustafsson, Harry Z, Holmstrom, etc. They are great at identifying college UFAs, and Euro ones too. They have a great track record.

I would stick with Bob for the start of next year, see how Hovinen does in the AHL and go from there.

If we need to deal Bob for help elsewhere, so be it. If we need to find a vet to work with Hovo (with Heeter is learning in the ECHL) they can do that too.
