I offered my honest assessment.
I don't think #21 is a great idea because making the playoffs isn't what it's all about when you get there. It's about winning.
I don't think Legal to Drink is a good slogan, even if you go that route. I think, The Drinking Age is a bit cooler.
And no, I probably won't use them.
Jeez, you even know how to make a fun avatar thread super serious.
I enjoy a good Roy Rogers and an Arnold Palmer every now and again. There are also any number of "Red Kool-Aid" jokes to be made. Plenty of alternatives for those who are underage.
And I think that finding interesting European drinks for our overseas posters would add a nice twist.
Just my opinion.
I have alternative reasons for not enjoying the alcohol theme. I am a recovering alcoholic and have been sober for 5 years so this is a personal thing for me, I absolutely observe everyone elses right to enjoy a ginger ale every once in a while, it's just not for me.
I was thinking that it would be nice if we could come to a general concensus and show a little solidarity but obviously their are people that will go with their own ideas regardless of what Doc decides.
The theme last year was great as it was more about, "The most interesting man in the world" than it was about the beer.
Sarcastro; I do appreciate you coming up with non alcohol alternatives though.
-Ducktape n' Bubblegum (referencing our injury woes and patching ourselves up to make a run)
-Mythbusters (debunking common myths about the Wings [Age, ref bias, etc.]
-"It Gets Better" Parody (Show one image depicting an offense such as harassment, bias, prejudiced [Don Cherry?], etc. and then show a shot of DRW success and the slogan "It gets better".)
I don't know if it's been done before either here or on another team's board, how about "Soundtrack to Victory" (it doesn't have to be the word victory, but something along those lines)
Basically the concept is, you find a song title/catchy lyrics/verse/artist and link it to a Wings player or coach.
1st image: "Soundtrack to Victory"
2nd image: Wings player/coach (preferably celebrating or raising the Cup)
3rd image: Lyrics/Artist/Band/Song title (it works better if it's lyrics of a famous song)
example: Pavel Datsyuk ("He ruled the Russian land and never mind the czar" - Rasputin by Boney M)

Although the theme itself might be nice. But it feels to random and got nothing to do with the team. Expect for a little bit on the music side in reference to motown. Not much about this season though.

Yeah, I know it's totally random, but I think there is more scope instead of the The Dirty Dozen, 12 Angry Men or something. We did something pertaining to the 20 straight playoff appearances last year with "Dos Equis" and doing something about the streak is just repetitive. I'm on board with any topic anyways. As long as I get Datsyuk .
And for the legal drinking age thing, it's an interesting idea, but i know nothing about alcoholic drinks since I don't partake (even though the idea of "No Red Wings, No Playoff's" idea I pitched a couple of years ago was inspired from the "no martini, no party" ad). And the legal age for drinking around Europe is 18, so the joke would be lost on us Euros
If it's not going to be the Michigan ID theme, then I'll throw my weight behind copying the Chrysler ad campaign.
Everybody knows it. It's become iconic with Michigan. And it's still fresh enough to be current at this point. There's less room for jokes, though, it would be more of a "serious" run of avatars. Imported from Detroit works nicely.
Alternatively, for more laughs, I think The Walking Red is pretty catchy. Each player could represent a type of zombie. A zombie that can only be satisfied not with brains, but STANLEY CUPS.
Maybe a strengths/weaknesses portion to it?
Franzen (for captain bob)
Strength: Does well in water.
Weakness: Only good in playoffs.
I'd be willing to make something up if it would help.
I liked the legal to drink thing, the dirty dozen is ok too....
...0ne last time ill suggest zombieland hockeytown survival rules...someone suggested it last year, and i still think its perfect.
I'm down with whatever tho, man....lots of good ideas, and we should all thank Doc in advance for volunteering to take it on. Thanks be to Doc. Excuse me, sir. Could you please keep your voice down? This is a family restaurant.

Ha!
Yeah this is really good, too. I could definitely get behind it. Full support!
I really thought that if we had someone really talented in graphics design, we could model the old-school Pokemon battle screen in a Gif with different players using different attacks. Unfortunately, I doubt anyone has the time to do that.
I'm really starting to like the Hockeytown Survival Tips idea. Although I thought Zombieland was pretty overrated, the avatar has a lot of possibilities.

Exactly, the movie is kind of irrelevant(i like it as a comedy myself)....zombieland and hockeytown are completely interchangeable....rule numbers can be player numbers....the rules can be clever/snarky/sterotype comments about said player.

I don't think we would be able to do that anyway. The file size would probably be too big.
