Now, I didn't say LOVE for Powe. I said I like him as a 4th line Pk guy. You need his type of player to stir the pot a bit and add some energy. However, we have him playing out of his skill set which ends up making him look like a bit of a clown sometimes.

Hope that helps out with my LIKE for Powe,

Right but why Powe? Throw Clutterbuck on the 4th line that is about where his level of play has been lately.

The whole house thing is rather interesting to me. Why would you build a house like that here that you can only live in and enjoy it for only 1/4 of a year? Especially when you consider that he knows that he's going to be signing a long-term deal very soon.

It just seems like odd timing to me.

So we should hate on a 3rd/4th liner who's a PK specialist because when we put him on the 2nd line and PP he looks bad...fantastic detective work there Lou.

I'm not saying people can't criticize Powe, but that is some flimsy logic.

Well, it was really a buyer's market on both property (developed or otherwise) and building labor/materials. It's a good economic decision for retirement planning.

Agreed on that. Hell, I bought a larger house last year as well.

Maybe I'm just setting myself up for disappointment this summer haha.

I like Clutterbuck, but he's more of a show boat to me than a player at this point. If he starts playing like his rookie year I would be a bit more happy to have him, but I think having fans has pushed him to play a little differently.

Powe should never be asked to score goals, or be on PP. I'm not saying we need Powe to Win, but I honestly don't mind having an grinder that works hard and doesn't try to over play his talent. If we had enough talent so he could play his style of hockey I think you would be a bit more pleased with his game.

I'm starting to get super annoyed with Clutterbuck. He skates by the puck and turns it over constantly.

If you just want to hit people, go play football.

Nope. We gave up a 3rd for a guy who has no hands or offensive ability and isn't the hitter he was made out to be. Defensive specialist who's really not that great defensively.

I like Veilleux better, and he was practically free.

When you've got a crap ton of money?

I guess if I had $20-30m in the bank and was about to get a $75m+ contract, I would drop $3m on my dream house in my dream location.

Remember, Parise's probably going to retire in Minnesota, where he grew up. And even if he doesn't, let's say he takes a $1m bath on that house worst case...that's not a lot of money for a summer home with that kind of income.

I'd agree, haven't been a fan of Clutter as much lately. His attitude and on-ice performance. Not that we have to worry as he's likely got the C-word.

It isn't about looking bad. He is bad. He is a team leading -19 on the season.

Uhm... Read much into what I typed, eh?

He kills offense no matter what line he is on... 2nd, 3rd, or 4th.

Dude is a good PK'er, I'll give him that, but I'm going to agree with Jarick on this one. There were players out there for "free" that could fill his spot.

Alright, I agree we could have found someone else to take Powe's spot in the lineup. But there will always be a cheaper replacement for just about everyone in the league. I like Powe as a player. Yes he's negative 19 on the year but all players on bad teams that play against the NHL's top lines will be negative if they're a 3rd/4th line grinder/pk guy.

Like I said above, we could have a similar player in Powe for less money but I think the guy will turn out once we get this ship straightened out in the near future. The guy plays for the team and will do what the coach asked him to do without question.

Once again, not my favorite player and if we lose him one day I won't be a bit sad but I do respect his role and how he plays in it.

Warren Peters...don't get me started. The guy brings nothing to the table and takes stupid penalties constantly.

The difference between a 2013 3rd and free is less than a 7th round pick more than what we got for Wellman. As for the "players out there for 'free'" who could do at least as well as him, the last time it came up those advocating your position were asked to name them, but nothing else was ever said.

John Madden, for one. He was the top PK'er in terms of TOI/game last year while providing great leadership and some clutch scoring. He was a UFA until January and I believe he was skating with the Wild some because he couldn't get a contract.

Or keep Eric Nystrom. He was under contract for two years and isn't doing too bad right now.

I just have to say this... The grass is always greener on the onside. Madden is old and slowing down. Nystrom is playing well now, and maybe we should have kept him. However, I think he's very comparable to Powe as a player and he only had 12 pts last year and was a minus players.

That's very comparable to what Powe has put up and Powe is cheaper and younger.

I think he's fine player if put in the right situation and the fact is Wild are playing a lot of guys out of their roles because they have too. I think Powe will be a fine player moving forward.

And as far as Peters and Ol' Jed go... good for them playing in the NHL, However they just don't belong there more than a couple fill in games.

Yeah... Really wish we could have known about these injury problems.

Madden and Nystrom in place of Peters and Ortmeyer would be amazing. The difference would practically be night and day.

Oh well, high draft pick. I'm happier picking top-5 than seeing us pick around 10 again.

I was a lonely Nystrom fanboy the entire time he was here and was excited to see what he was going to do under Yeo, so I don't say this lightly: odds are pretty good that Nystrom would be about as effective on the ice as Ortmeyer and Peters on this team.

If Nystrom was still here, he'd no doubt be injured. That's how it goes with this group.
