The game is too fast to be running through options in your head. Voracek should have given up on the puck if he was worried about getting hit, simple as that. There are two defenseman on the ice, if one of them gets burned because he's busy laying a picnic blanket out what good is he?

There is no reason to, it's stupid. He blows up somebody with their head up their ass and then goes and fights who? The guy he just blew up? The other teams best fighter? Look what happened yesterday, the Flyers started playing with reckless abandon after the hit to get vengeance and Jagr ends up getting hurt and they took a couple penalties.

So the hit had many consequences: 2 Penalties and two opposing players get injured.

Your dream scenario: Kronwall gets big hit and then goes toe-to-toe with the Flyers Enforcer and at the least gets 5 for fighting and possibly injured?

If I'm a Red Wing I like the first scenario.

Also, NO player is going to begin diving into hits headfirst, are you kidding me? "Woo! My season is ended, but I drew a minor! In your face! Or mine, really!"
I guarantee if they penalize "any" (which is where they have to go to remove a hit like this) head contact you will see the divers head butting elbows trying to get a call. These guys do it with hooking all the time.

Look at the nfl, DE love taps the QB helmet..15 yard penalty...has that really been a good rule for the NFL

And he has NEVER answered the bell. 0 NHL fights.

I have no respect for players who dish out hits like that but don't back it up with their fists.
So he makes clean hits and then should fight after? If he makes a dirty hit that's one thing but he hits the right way and since it's clean, he doesn't owe anyone a fight.

There's a world of difference between dropping your stick or exaggerating a hold or hook, and walking the delicate line of potential brain injury. I don't think players are going to begin headbutting the glass, or elbows, or ducking their head into a shoulder flying at them. That would be impossibly stupid.

Players don't risk injury to get calls. Nobody has broken their hand by dropping a slashed stick easily. If that was a risk, you can bet it wouldn't be happening.

So, I guess Jake is ok? Holmer didn't mention him apparently.

Concussion symptoms take time to develop in some cases, so they'll probably see how he feels tomorrow, let him skate if he feels good, then give him a concussion test after the physical activity.

We'll know more about this time tomorrow when the Flyers will either make an emergency move... or they won't.

Again I can't see how you take out head hits unless you say no contact period...under any circumstance. If that goes in, guys will find a way to game it. Not on hits like the kronwall hit...but there will be minor cross checks, rabbit punches that happen all the time now...if you don't call it then you end up with more subjectivity...was this hit hard enough to justify that call, ect.

You're making this far more complicated than it is. If a player lines someone up, has time to do something else, and blasts them in the head...at least make it a minor. Then you can get players to begin adjusting how they hit so they aren't hitting an unsuspecting player high if they can help it.

Only a bad rule if you want to see your Superstars out with concussions.

Jagr is our skating this morning per Dave Issac twitter. Let's hope he feels ready to go

Also Voracek is still under concussion watch. That's not news to anyone though

Your goal consistency right...ambiguity = harder to achieve consistency.

Define "has time". 1 second, 2 seconds? Did kronwall "have time"? I don't think he did.

While the rule 48 verbiage gives room for interpretation I think based on the videos for calls that were 48 violations and the video for the calls that were not 48 vilolations the league has been very consistent.

So brush helmet, 15 yard roughing the passer is good with you.

In hockey terms, better remove checking with the shoulder...it has the potential for headshots, no?

Voracek is officially ruled out for tonight's game vs. FLA.

Jagr is a game-time decision.

As some here probably know, Jagr bought his hometown club last year and got a big sponsor for them - a company called Sazka (lottery company). He agreed on being the "face of their ads" for the next 2 yrs I think, there is an older one:

I see that Voracek was held out of the game last night. Is he showing symptoms of a concussion or was he held out of the game for precautionary reasons?

Thanks

It's closer to being precautionary until the next update.

Shanny is a ****ing idiot. Jake got hit square in the head. Is that not a head shot??? League is pathetic. Nystrom shoulders Letang and no suspension either.

God forbid a ****ing red wing or ranger take a shot to the head.
