This is why it's so important that we stay in 1st. That almost guarantees that the Pens will play Philly or NJ in the first round, which means one of those teams will be out after round 1, and hopefully if the Pens win, the Flyers beat them up and wear them down a bit.

exactly. Its more on how we play than anything else in the end.

Hopefully out of pittsburgh, philly, devils, bruins, 2 out of the 4 will be eliminated after the first round

I made a thread about Pitt possibly catching us last week and it didnt seem really realistic to anyone but up 6 points with 17 to play and two against Pitt? We may be playing Phi or Devs in first round.

Of all the lower seeds and lower seed candidates the Capitals are the team I'd most like to play. That is a team that wants their season to end already.

To be honest if we can't be 1st I'd rather be 6th... It sounds short sighted but the 4 seed would be a death trap for us. At least with the 6th seed we would be very likely to get out of the 1st round. We'd just worry about things after rather than running into a team like NJ in the first and getting killed.

First Seed. the Rangers are in their worst stretch of the season and the Penguins their best stretch and we are still ahead. The Rangers play the Pens 2 more times this year so I am very confident they can hold off Pittsburgh

Ahead by 4 points--not a whole lot, especially with 15 games left and like you mentioned 2 games still against them. Plus Crosby possibly coming back Sunday or next week. Like Legend23 I have been saying for a few weeks now that the Pens are the one team in the east that scares me and could catch the rangers. The pens have been playing solid hockey for a while now, and if the Rangers don't pick it up on this homestand, by this time next week they won't be in first place, and then you will see massive panic on this board.

It doesn't matter what place we come in. It all comes down to who is hot at playoff time. This team has proven it can win at home and on the road.

The one thing I will say is we do have an easier schedule than Pitt from this point on....but who knows. The most important thing is they get back on their game and get some speed here. We have too many big guys with limited speed on our third and fourth lines.

Easier schedule yes, but crosby is probably back on Thursday.

teams that worry me: ottowa, tampa, pitts and to a lesser extent, the bruins. ottowa and tampa seem to have our #. although the caps SHOULD worry me, they don't right now. maybe i'll be singing a diff tune if that's our matchup...

what worries me much more than the matchups is the way we've been playing over this last stretch. our D look tired and i can only hope our forwards can compensate for the state our D's in with some extra scoring.

This is one of those cases where correct grammar is very important. O.o

You mean before we face them? The only way it's possible is if we are tops in the East and Senators overtake NJ in the standing.
