But unlike the Flames, the Colts seem to have a good sense of timing for "when to let go"
It will be very strange, but it's the right time for the franchise to go in a different direction.
You have to think Houston goes after him hard.
True, I just meant both players you hate as a rival but respect the type of person they are.
I still think it will remain to be seen if it was time to let him go....with Luck coming in he wont have much talent on offense to throw to. Still some, but nothing outstanding. Sitting behind Manning even if it was for a year wouldnt have been a bad thing. I think Cam Newtons season was in the back of their minds. But Bradford and Luck might have similar starts to their careers....both arent surrounded by a ton of talent. Financially it made sense, but Irsay "said" it had nothing to do with it.
I'm predicting he goes to Arizona. Different conference I'm sure will be ideal for him. Miami, Seattle, Washington I'm sure will all make large pitches, but Arizona will probably be the most appealing with Fitz there.

Don't forget they did that with Manning to start his career, let him learn on the fly in the NFL, and it did wonders, makes sense that they would trust it.
If Seattle wasn't so miserable later in the season, I would say he goes there. They had something like the 11th best defense, with some BRUTAL QB play, imagine how much better that defense plays when it doesn't have to be on the field for the majority of the game
A perfect end to the season, other than the Broncos winning the SB. Eli is one of the most clutch athletes I have seen in a long, long time in big games or situations. When the chips are down and he's got to deliver, you just know he's going to make it happen. Very neat to see both of their drives to beat the Pats punctuated with spectacular catches. Tyree's was more awe-inspiring but Mannigham's was a better "football play". Unbelievable presence of mind and athleticism to haul that in and drag that right foot. I really am in love with that entire receiving core, can't help but cheer for players like him, Nicks and Cruz.
Now the long wait until the best league in the world starts up again. Where is that time machine.
LOL
live4dogs was Klaus? That dude needs to move on and stop making duplicate accounts....

Agreed. Manning however is a once in a generation player. Luck very well could be as well, but I look at all the top QB's in the league currently and they sat for a bit (and I know your going to bring up his brother to question that, lol). 100% see their logic and agree with it for the most part, but more just bringing it up for debate.
I dont see the Seattle offense being that appealing to Manning. They probably will throw a ton of money at him, but I doubt he gets the control he is use to in Seattle.
My Redskins would love to have him, I'm sure, but it just doesn't seem like a fit to me. I can't see him going there for some reason and have come to terms with the notion that he's going somewhere else.
I can't stand the Dolphins (not as much as the Pats or Cowboys though), but that's exactly where I see him going. I hope he signs with Arizona instead.

Schaub is a very good QB so i don't think that Houston is an option at all.
I see Miami or Washington as probable destinations with Miami being the most likely landing point because i don't see him playing in a colder climate plus i think that playing for Jeff Fisher will be really enticing for Payton.

I agree Schaub is, but he hasn't stayed healthy and he's Not Payton Manning.
Washington is a gongshow, all the time, and Miami isn't close to being good. I mean I could see him in those spots, but if you're trying to win "now" those aren't prime locations.
The 49ers are my other top choice besides Houston.
I just don't see it as a fit in Huston. If not Miami, I think Seattle has the best shot.
Miami isn't a very good team, but Peyton does live there and has a house in Miami already. Plus, they have a premier WR for him to throw to in Marshall, the 2nd richest owner in football, and a LOT of cap space to fit both Manning and any number of prize FA weapons for him (such as his #1 target over the last 10 years in Reggie Wayne).
SF isn't a bad call either, but their offense is built around the run. Not that they wouldn't be happy to fit it to Manning's strengths, I'm sure.
After dealing for the #2 pick, that takes Washington out of the Manning sweepstakes (not that I thought they were even in them).
2 1sts and a 2nd is a big price to pay to move up 4 spots in the draft, but if one team is willing and able to fill holes in free agency, it's the Redskins. I'd have to think they'll be putting a full court press on Vincent Jackson when free agency starts on Tuesday.
MIAMI would be his best chance to win. They lack a good TE but I think Manning could bring freshly released Dallas Clark with him. Brandon Marshall with a great quarterback would be sikk. With Bush and there stellar defence they would definitely be a contender. Also Brady & Manning in the same division would be great for the NFL. Makes too much sense, so he'll prolly end up going to Zona.
Also one of the best things about Miami is Jake Long. He's an absolute stud. In his sophomore season, he was having one of the best seasons for an OT OF ALL TIME before he got injured. I'm not even exaggerating there.
They also have a better defense than anything Manning has ever had to work with. The only major detraction for going to Miami would be the very tough division. The Pats are always going to be contenders and the Jets/Bills aren't easy teams either.
Washington gave up a ridiculous amount to get RG3. It is a QB driven league, so it could work out, but the Rams made off with a ton.

You make a good point with Jake Long, i think that will be a huge selling point for him to go to Miami.
I disagree about the tough division turning him off to Miami, Manning is a competitor and i bet that he would relish the challenge to play against the Jets and Brady/Belichick twice a year.
I think that Miami is the lead dog for several reasons.....
1) Warm weather climate
2) Brandon Marshall and likely Reggie Wayne to throw to along with a solid Oline to protect him and a solid D.
3) As i mentioned before, i think that the competitive division will be attractive to him. I bet that he would love to knock the Patriots off their perch and shut Ryan up as well.
Arizona is also a possibility due to Fitzgerald, them having a dome stadium and Wisenhunt and the coaching staff having a system in place similar to the one that Warner excelled in but i still think that Miami is the odds on favorite.
It would be something if he went to Denver and unseated Jesus Tebow, that would make for some interesting entertainment.

So The 49ers, Texans and Seahawks STRONGLY disagree, are you crazy? The fish suck.
I'm always surprised at the exodus of players in the off-season. Too bad for Brandon Jacobs, great team guy, huge battering ram, but it's the NFL Numbers game.
Well this hasnt been a boring week..and we are only an hour into free agency.
Randy Moss signs with the 49ers
Brandon Marshall traded to the Bears for two - 3rd Rounders
Pierre Garcon signs with the Redskins
Oh yeah and on the weekend, and the Redskins traded three - 1st round picks and a 2nd round pick for the 2nd overall pick this year to pick most likely RGIII
Wherever Manning goes, he's looking taking his entire colts offense with him lol
, I was kind of thinking the same thing. Apparently the Broncos are the front runner, looks like they've had enough of golden ticket and are going to let someone else cash in for a while.
It seems the front runner for Manning changes every day. It was the Broncos, then Arizona, now its Miami after the shipped out Marshall.
The Colts sure have cleared out there team. Losing Manning, Wayne, Garcon, Clark, Addai, Brackett Saturday. Freeney is also on the block, and Saturday is likely to retire. Almost feel bad for Luck as hes coming to a team with almost nothing.

Colts are about to become the Oilers of the NFL.
The major difference is the flexibility to make significant roster moves. For all we know, the Colts will go cheap and play like the Bengals las year

No worse than anyother 1st overall pick, really. The teams picking #1 are usually there for a reason.
I think the $50M between the Cowboys and Redskins combined that were removed from their cap space for breaking a rule that didn't exist is the biggest story of the week, but the NFL was smart in that they decided to wait until the day before free agency to actually do it so that it would be taken off the front page on account of the day's signings.

I wouldnt totally agree with that. Stafford, Bradford and Newton all had some talent on the team they were drafted by.
as a bucs fan the last 24 hours has been awesome, Vjax and carl nicks in FA, some minor signings in Orlovski and Wright but over all our team has been drastically upgraded
