What it means?

Hey Jets fans, working on a story and need your help in answering these questions.

1. What did the return of the Jets mean to you?

2. What would the Jets making the playoffs mean to you?

Bonus. When the Jets make the playoffs should the Whiteout return?

Thanks in advance for your answers, GO JETS GO!

1. When the Jets left part of my passion for hockey died. I still followed hockey, but I didn't have a favorite team. I cheered for the players I had in fantasy leagues, pools and drafts. I had no team loyalties, and who I cheered for depended on which team had players that would help me. Every year becuase of this I ended up cheering for a different team in the playoffs. All things being equal I would cheer for a Canadian team (except the Leafs - under no circumstances could I do that). I still enjoyed hockey, but I ended up following NFL football more than the NHL.

Now my passion for hockey has been reignighted and may be stronger than ever. I have season tickets, I follow all Jets news, go on the boards and follow anything Jets. I also buy a lot of merch. Consequently I cut back on some of the other stuff because all I really care about is the Jets.

2. Making the playoffs would be great, but I see it more of an opportunity for our young core of players to gain some playoff experience. What truely matters is winning the cup, and IMO we are a couple of years away from being a true contender.

Bonus: I'm a little conflicted on the whiteout. I experienced them many times with Jets 1.0 and I loved the passion. The crowds we have now don't need this to fuel the fire it is already there big time. Besides I only have a Blue home jersey. Of course I wouldn't mind a Wheeler white.

The Jets mean a lot to me. They were my team when I was young. They were my team when they didnt play for 15 years. They are my team once again.
Seeing the NHL again and knowing that Winnipeg is allowed to compete for the Stanley Cup means the world to me. The void has been filled with their return.

Ive been to a dozen games this year so far and it has been euphoric. I find myself getting choked from time to time as it just seems so surreal to me. I watched the Jets shutout the Phoenix Coyotes... a match I have literally dreamed of these past 15 years. I was a big fan long ago, and had my favorites as a kid. Now, I have new stars to cheer for. Pavvy and Stuart are already replacing Essensa and Zhamnov.

Each and every game I have been to has been special. The atmosphere is infectious and gives me goosebumps. I have put the money down for Round 1 so far. Everytime I am watching a game live at MTS or on TV, I cannot imagine the crowd taking it to a whole other level.
But it is something I have waited half a lifetime to find out what that might be like.

The one thing I can tell you, if the Jets earn a playoff spot. I will do everything in my power as a fan to take it to the next level. Whatever that may be.

As for the white out... in my opinion, that is what the players have been playing for.
When they hit the ice in the playoffs they will see we are 100% behind them. We want them to hoist that cup. For them, for us.

They will become Legends. (at least in my mind)

Even though I was 6 years old when they left I don't really have any memories at all involving Jets 1.0, so this was a fresh experience to me. Like KingBogo I didn't really have a whole lot of interest in the NHL, sure I followed it but I was actually more in to the NBA. Since the Jets have returned though they've sparked a love affair between me and the NHL, I've never watched this many regular season games in one season before(I watch every single one unless I have a prior engagement) and I've been to two games at the MTS Centre. I really love this team, even more then I thought I would originally.

I think it'd be really great but I would not be too disappointed if they ended up missing it.

1. Despite being born in Edmonton, I would consider Winnipeg as my true home since that was where I was raised and spent most of my childhood. I grew up as a fan of the Jets and loved the team and considered them part of the community and the beloved team for the people of Winnipeg. I've been to some games at the Winnipeg Arena when I was young though but don't exactly remember them. When the team was in their last season in Winnipeg, I was in tears because it was like losing a loved one. After going through some emotional times through the lost of the team I loved, I moved back to
Edmonton with my family and adopted the Oilers as my favorite team. When I heard on a local Edmonton radio station (The Team 1260) that the Jets may be returning as the relocated Atlanta Thrashers, I was excited and really hoped that my hometown would have a team again. When it was made official, I was shedding man tears. I was very ecstatic for my hometown of Winnipeg and for old and new fans of the Jets. I saw it as something that would give life to the city of Winnipeg and put the city back on the map.

2. If the Jets did make the playoffs then I would see it as a chance to relive memories in my childhood cheering for the original Jets but with a new logo and identity. It'll also unite citizens of Winnipeg as a whole just like it did for Edmonton during the Oilers' Stanley Cup run in 2006. Seeing everyone young and old showing their support for the team would certainly be something special. Hearing everyone honking their horns after a Jets win in the playoffs would bring joy to everyone in the city and put smiles on the faces.
And also, it would show that the Jets players and their fans are truly fuelled by passion. (You know, I've always wondered if the Sportsnet new catchphrase "Fuelled by Fans" was inspired by "Fuelled by Passion".)

Bonus. I feel it should return and Jets fans old and new should show the world how it's suppose to be done like back in the late 80's to 90's. Oh yeah and sadly, I can't really
see everyone participating since they have spent alot on the navy blue home jerseys and hats. If that's the case then the white out and be the blue out. -hides in corner-

Most definitely, we can take it back from those folks in the god-forsaken desert who ripped it off and bring it back to it's rightful home!

They don't know what a whiteout is. They've never been lost in the barrens suffering from snow blindness trying to get back home. Maybe they've experienced sandstorms or power brownouts.. but whiteouts? Don't make me laugh. The only whiteout Arizona residents have ever experienced is the one produced by liquid paper.
