Thought the Sting played well against Plymouth even though they lost. The way they played recently against both London and Plymouth is encouraging although there is still too many boneheaded turnovers in the defensive zone and the defensive zone coverage has to tighten up considerably come playoff time.
Agree with everything you say - eliminate obvious bonehead plays throughout the year and this team is several wins ahead.

Even though they lost both games I thought the Sting had 2 pretty solid efforts Fri and today. Especially vs Ottawa the Sting dominated most of the game a far outshot and outchanced them but it seemed like everytime the 67's went the other way the puck was in the back of the net in the first period to put them behind the 8 ball early, and with Mrazek in the zone all night they couldnt pot the goals to get them back in it despite pushing hard (so frustrating watching them get so many grade A chances and not pot one til too late) almost ripped my hair out.

Thats the one big concern I have with the team is starting off slow and digging themselves a couple goal hole to climb out of early, becuase when you're playing good teams like today or teams with high end goalies you can't always recover. Really nice to hear gally will likely be back for the final home game can't wait to see him out there again.

The slow starts have been a problem all year and can be lethal in the playoffs. The head coach and his staff have dropped the ball here big time - it's their responsibility to have the team ready to play at the begining of the game. It hasn't happened all season.

Listened to some of the CHOK pre-game show, with the original name of Coach's Corner, and Beaulieau was saying that Hottott wasn't even able to skate today so would be very doubtful for this coming weekend.
It was somewhat obvious listening to Beaulieau that he has no time for Hope. He was saying that Hope has to take advantage of opportunities like today to show what he can do. He made no mention of the fact that Hope won his last 3 starts.
With the way things are going right now, we may end up in 6th. Saginaw is only 3 pts back of both us and OS.

when does jacques start taking accountability for these slow starts mental lapses and poor decision making. injurys are a problem but have to stop being an excuse. i agree it sure comes across like he is not a fan of youngsters lets see how this fairs come recruiting time.

Defencive zone coverage is not just the responsibility of the defencemen. Wasn't this suppose to be the strength of Trader Jack?

On a positive note. The lads did battle back after a horrific start. Jwalk is bang on with the slow starts. Deangelo had another good game and Hopey made some amazing saves especially in the second. Anderson took very few shots in warm up, is he sick? Yaki looked a little out of sorts but at least he was throwing the body around. When Galy comes back I fully expect them two to start clicking again. Nice scrap for Boucher. Dunninick and Char don't look normal yet but props to them for a great effort. omg we miss Hottot.

Its one thing to acknowledge so many injuries but has anyone given any thought to why? Is it just a fluke of a year?

Beaulieau said on the pre-game show that Anderson hurt his shoulder during the Ottawa game. Apparently nothing serious, hopefully, but enough to keep him out.

Taylor Carnevale left the Shawinigan Cataractes. It was first reported that he wasn't happy with his ice time but Carnevale says he just wants to have his surgery because it could compromise his hockey career. (A dislocated shoulder can't really dislocate more than it is right now I think)

Saw him last when when Shawinigan played Halifax and he had maybe 8 minutes of ice and wasn't very impressive.

This may have been news to Alex. His twitter feed has a comment from someone stating the same thing to which he has replied "what?". Either the date wasn't supposed to be released or it isn't true. A Hockey Prospects scout on Twitter stated he talked to Alex and he is day to day with no timetable.

Game Recaps on Sting site, keep saying they are hoping/expecting both Hottot & Basso to return this weekend. Duininck, Latta, Chiarlitte have all returned, Dundas is now back from suspension. Add Gally to list of recovering players & the Sting are finally on the upswing of the injury bug & getting healthier as playoffs fast-approach.
I don't see the Sting falling to 6th like you say could happen. Owen Sound may technically be ahead of us via tiebreak, but if you look at their upcoming schedule, it couldn't get much tougher.
Weds vs. Barrie (3rd in East), Fri @ Saginaw, Sat @ Sarnia, Sun @ Plymouth . 4 games in 4 1/2 days. Grueling to say the least
Sting are 3 points up on Saginaw, with a game in hand & 2 for W's in the win column.
Advantage Sarnia.

During the pre-game interview Beaulieau said that Hottot 'couldn't even skate on Sunday, and if you can't skate on a Sunday then you probably can't play on Friday'. His words, not mine. They also talked about Anderson's injury and hopefully it isn't that bad..don't know yet. Hurt his shoulder in the Ottawa game.
Gally seemed surprised with the news that he was returning on the 14th (at least according to his Twitter feed). Hopefully it is true.
I'm just not convinced the Sting are going to be healthy enough before the end of the season to stay in 4th. SSM destroyed them last week, and they ran out of gas the last 2 games. Anyone who comes back isn't going to be in 'game' shape, so may be of little help. However, the others will be able to get a little longer breather on the bench.
I hope they get 4th, and everyone comes back healthy. It would be great to see a full Sting roster with Yakky and Gally together working their magic.
Why the different stories from the pre-game and the post game recap? I don't know. Maybe JB keeping everyone guessing?

conflicting reports on who returns when. lets just hope they all return. but i see no mention of robertson. whats his status. and a friend in brampton tells me anderson has sholder problem. injured a few weeks before we picked him up. wasnt robertson also injured before we picked him up. yes both are great players but risky to spend what we did on injured players especally o/a. didnt those two cost us like 7 picks and healthy player.

The wife heard Beaulieau on CHOK yesterday and he said there will be no players returning from injury for this weekends games.
This is going to be a real interesting weekend for the Sting. SSM will have just come off a battle with Windsor with huge implications for a playoff spot. OS will be playing their 3rd in 4 days, but will have a large contingent of fans coming down, who will make far more noise than Sting fans are capable of. Then we are in Windsor for our 3rd in 2 1/2 days. That could be a letdown game for the Sting, as we will be playing an away afternoon game with the short bench after what should be a intense game against OS, plus Windsor will have had 2 days off. OS will be in Plymouth on Sunday for their 4th in 5 days.
Hopefully the Sting don't look ahead to the OS game and forget the Soo, and hopefully they have the energy left for Windsor.

Tonight starting feeling like dejavu of last Friday vs the 67's with the boys continuing the trend of falling behind early and heading to the first intermission down by a few goals. They looked real sloppy in the first turning over pucks and bad clearing attempts. Anderson did well to hold the fort during the onslaught though. Luckily the offense really kicked it into gear in the third going to the net hard and got rewarded tonight. Its getting real old watching teams come into our barn and get the jump on us from the get go when its should be them weathering a sting storm from the drop of the puck. It's been mentioned time and time again but the coaching staff is obviously not getting these guys ready to rock to start games and it's gunna kill us in the playoffs when the D tightens up and these 3rd period comebacks wont be so easy to come by. On another note the RBC was rockin pretty good tonight once the goals started coming and they tied it up. Maybe as loud as iv heard it this year, and there was definetly a playoff feel in the air.

Definitely agree Leafan519 about the slow starts. It has to stop. In saying that, I do feel the 'Hounds were pretty lucky to be up 3-0 as their goals were of the "gift variety". However, that could be because of the spotty defense at times. It is pretty clear that captain Char and Duininck aren't at 100% as they made some mistakes that normally are routine for them.

Either way, tonight's game was an exciting one. Great to see Rensfeldt have a good showing with his parents in attendance.

I cannot say enough about how good Connor Murphy has been - both offensively and defensively. He has improved soooooooooo much over the past 3 months after coming back from injury and has found his groove. The Coyotes made a very good pick in this kid. He's certainly outplayed his draftmate Oleksiak at this level.

Our d-core would be LOST without his presence back there.

Congrats to the Sting for clinching that playoff berth! Now they need to iron out their deficiencies as they finish out the regular season.

You are 100 % correct. If the coach can't figure out a way to get his team ready for a game we are in serious trouble in the playoffs when things really tighten up.

Spotting teams two or three goal leads and counting on a flurry of goals to bail you out ain't gonna cut in the playoffs. To me this is a major shortcoming of Beaulieu and his staff. Could be time for something drastic like going with the 7 or 8 guys that do look like they are ready to play at the beggining of the game and nailing everybody else's ass to the bench. He better figure out something quick or we're dead meat.

On the plus side we did win the game. Bill Montague will not be happy about this.

Cheap shot elbow to the head by Halmo who took a major penalty for the hit. Should be a suspension by the league but there probably won't be. Yakkie did not look good as he lay on the ice for a couple of minutes after the hit. Wouldn't be surprised if it was a concussion which would be the worst possible news for the Sting.

Yakupov was destroyed by a hit from Halmo mid-way through 2nd period. Yakupov cut across the centre of the OS zone and Halmo crushed him. Yakupov struggled to get to the bench and went down just before the door. Laid on ice for a few minutes, before getting up and going to the dressing room. He did not return. Beaulieau said in post game interview that Yakupov suffered cut mouth and facial scrapes and they will be sending pics to the league. He will be further examined for a concussion tomorrow (Sunday). Initial reports said no concussion, but it is early.
Halmo got a game misconduct and could get plenty more.
I saw the hit live, but I couldn't tell if elbows up or down.
As an aside, apparently Dom Papa, Windsor announcer, said Yakupov got what he deserved. Nice

Great team win tonight, just a solid effort all around. Came out with some gusto and had 3-4 scoring chances right off the bat and at least 1 post, thats how they need to start things off from now on. Cleaned things up in our zone big time too.

Real concerned about Yakky though he really got clobbered cutting to the middle. I couldnt tell if it was an elbow or not but it was definetly high. Hope to god its not a concussion, and that he just got rattled a little bit or the wind knocked out of him. I think we will knock the Attack off in round 1 with or without Yakupov but this team needs him for any prolonged playoff success. Anyone know when Hottot will be back too? I heard Basso is just about ready and Robertson is skating but havent heard anything on Hottot in forever, hes a guy we need back he'd be a warrior in the playoffs.

Can Sarnia just play Connor Murphy and Anthony DeAngelo 60 minutes a game?

Their play of late is remarkable.

Saw the hit. Hopefully Yak is alright and able to return for the post-season. That said, man, you gotta watch where you're going in situations like that. This is how ppl get hurt.
