Don't see why LEM couldn't sign him to a AHL contract...
Poor Monsters.
Too bad, Avs looked like they might have stolen another success story out of the '03 draft! (1/2 of our current defenders are from the '03 draft and we selected none of them).
Perhaps a minor injury or being held-out for an eventual trade wouldn't surprise me.
Dear God...if they've been holding him out for a trade this long and still have nothing, Sherman's even more indecisive than Steve Tambellini. I'm betting he is indeed banged-up.
It appears the Monsters starting goaltender these days is Gerald Coleman (who? a late draft pick of Tampa in 03, never made the bigs) and he's doing quite well. 9-4-1, .923%, 2.65 GAA

From Wikipedia: "On February 24, 2007, Coleman was traded with a 1st round draft pick to the Anaheim Ducks for Shane O'Brien and a 3rd round draft pick."
Strange to see the Avs and Monsters in so similar straits--just out of the playoff picture. Apparently their last game went to a FIFTEEN ROUND shootout, that unfortunately ended in a loss.
They better not be trading Barrie. The kid has so much potential and i get this feeling hes gonna be something special in this league
Have a strange feeling we will either see both full time next year
or one will be gone by draft day
Unless of course Sacco gets fired, then i could see them keeping both
and see what Roy can do with them With some grooming and the right partners that could be a hell of a offensive backend.
David Quinn should get a chance to coach the Avs if they start looking for a new coach, he's done a great job the past three years with the team.
He's had his fair share of injuries, line-up issues to deal with. And seems to coach a system.

Sounds very similar to the excuses thrown around about Sacco.

No, Sacco never made the playoffs with the Monsters and Quinn has a substantial amount of experience over Sacco. That said, I'm not exactly looking forward to Quinn as the next head coach. I'd bet that Quinn will go back to the collegiate level but we'll see.
It's unfortunate that one of Elliott/Barrie looks to be stuck with Avs as the #7D once O'Byrne is back. Seems like a waste. Sure, they learn a bit by practicing with the team but I'd rather have them play with LEM.

He most certainly won't if the Avs fail to sign Roy.
A college job for Quinn isn't out of the question, he was a candidate for the Providence College job last year. Quinn has had better results than Sacco with the Monsters and learned from one of the best in Jack Parker.
Knowing the recent history of this organization, Quinn will be the next Avs coach if Roy doesn't take the job.

Good thing they had Elliott and Barrie's development in mind when they decided not to bring in a vet as a #7 at the deadline. Got to make sure they learn how to pack and unpack their stalls at the NHL level, and how to find a comfy seat on the plane. Very important.

Jori, would you feel comfortable if Quinn would be the next coach if Roy or other options aren't available?
I personally would feel better with Quinn than Sacco or any of the assistants.
I like Quinn's record, granted I don't know how well it would translate to NHL success.

Wow its 2 or 3 weeks till ROB comes back its not the end of the world.
They kept Hunwick last offseason for this exact reason and people on here pissed and moaned about that too.

Yes. I was never a fan of the Sacco hire. I would prefer the organization go with someone outside the "family," but I like Quinn's coaching pedigree better than Sacco's.

Quinn is a good defensive coach, if he's anything like what he implemented while he was at BU. He teaches a defensive zone system that guys like Shattenkirk thrived in. It's a bit different than what Sacco teaches.
