NESHL hockey clinic

Has anyone ever done an NESHL Adult ice hockey clinic? Im thinking about doing the Advanced clinic this fall but id like to know if its worth it. Id like to improve my game a little bit and im wondering what kind of "instructors" they have and if they're at all helpful.

Not sure if it's new - I don't remember seeing it on the old website - but I'm curious about the clinic too. Wondering if it's worthwhile for working on some of my (obvious) deficiencies...

I dont know if its new or not, I just happened to see that they have them. Im in my second season in the NESHL and a drill-like setting could be a good way to improve my game

I have done three summer clinics and one winter. The summer and winter clinics are different in that the summer is 12 sessions and all levels, beginner, advance and goalie all skate together for all the sessions. The winter is 20 sessions for beginner and 10 sessions for the advance skaters. They are split 10 "clinic" and 10 "Games" If you sign up as a beginner you show all 20 weeks and participate in both clinic nights and game nights. (the year I did it games were against "D" level teams within the league) As an advanced skater you only show for "clinic" nights. Again you will be skating with all levels of play.

Lots of skating drills, with the puck, without the puck, forwards, backwards, circles. Passing drills are with two people, three people, 2 on 0, 2 on 1's and basic "catch" passing with a partner. They also do some passing in your zone puck movement stuff, and shooting. The winter they also do some for-check and back check stuff in the last few sessions. Also depending on how many people show they will do some 3 on 3 scrimmages.

The coaches are great, Kevin likes to yell a lot, but its all in good fun. He might call you out of you suck real bad or if you are showing off. It's mostly a group lesson type of setup. They might pull you out of line from time to time and give a few pointers. if you are really just learning to skate they will also have you go last and work with you a little more 1 on 1.

If nothing else you get another night on the ice and a great workout. I am pretty sure I am showing up for winter. I think it starts next week.

Just stumbled upon this thread... I've done one summer and two winter clinics. The winter is more fun as you get to actually play games.

I was a bit shocked when on the first day, Kevin lined us all up (we were all mostly in our 30's and 40's) and proceeded to yell: "I'm gonna skate ya hahd and yah gonna be sore tomarah! And if you ain't sore, ya ain't doin it right!" Hilarious. Then he made us do push-ups if we missed the net.

There's another guy who helps run it (forgot his name) who was actually drafted by the Rangers.

All in all, a very good work-out, lots of fun and excellent if you are new or getting back to the game. And beers in the lockerroom.

Thinking about doing one again...
