Simple Question, have the Habs and Leafs ever not made the playoffs in the same year?

2006-07 when the eliminated us in the final game, then the Devils lost in a shootout to eliminate the Leafs.

I remember Cherry almost crying on air because the Devils didn't play Brodeur, saying it wasn't fair.

Awards:
2006-07, Leafs eliminate the Habs in the final game of the season and jump into a playoff spot, only to be bumped out by the Islanders for the 8th spot.

I remember that...

Ryder with 2 or 3 and Higgins with a pair.

I think Kaberle won it in the end.

sad.

IIRC, The Devils game was vs. the Islanders and NJ was winning 3-2 or 2-1 with like a under a minute to go in the game but the Isles tied it and eventually won it in a shoutout with Dubliewicz in net ! The Maple Leafs needed the Devils to win to get in the playoffs

That game made me soooo angry. The leafs got a fluke goal in the second. The puck took sort of a poop fly over Huet and fell in the net behind him. And there was a 5-on-3 powerplay for the leafs in the third that killed the game for us.

I remember that game... Stupid ****ing useless Steve Begin with a ridiculous double minor after the period is over. Then Kyle Fellgood with a big dive to give the Leafs a 5 on 3. All we needed was 1 pt to clinch. Huet choked bigtime.

And playing Huet who was just coming off an injury that had sidelined him for a couple weeks IIRC.

Plus, Halak had won 7 of the last 9 starts of the Habs before the last game of the season against Leafs... Why put Huet.. WHY?!?! That was seriously bad coaching.

Huet faced, i think 24 shots in the first period, started the 2nd and ran out of gas.
He was injured down the stretch and it was his first game back. He had a real good
season and nobody questioned huet starting the game. Halak was young and more unknown at the time. He was playing good in place of huet but no playoff games under his belt. Fault of the coach, i don't know. Everyone was sure happy after the first period, huet was stopping everything

Our last game of the year against the Leafs could be the first truly meaningless Habs-Leafs game ever played in March or April. Both teams might be officially out of it. Never have these two teams played a game late in the year where at least one of the team's was in a playoff spot or seeking to nail down a certain spot in the seedings. The last time both teams played so late in the year with literally nothing good on the line, was 1926 and the Leafs were called the St. Pats!

That loss was on Carbo.

Halak was great down the stretch and he puts in an injured and rusty Huet who played like ****.

Halak had played bad the game before against the Rangers. IMO that game was lost with the horrible penalty and timing of Steve Begin. Habs were up a pair and the game should have been over

Not to be nitpicky but to actually put emphasis on how bad this penalty was, it was actually AFTER the whistle that sounded the end of the 2nd period. So his penalty wasn't even during play. The horn blew, and Bégin tried to lift an opponent's stick but missed, only to catch his opponent's face, drawing blood for the 4 mins PK.

I'm sure someone can confirm/infirm this, but I think the Leafs scored not only once, but twice during that penalty.
