Because he signed a contract with Boston

That actually doesn't explain anything. Contracts move from one team to another with the player.

So I was right about no one claiming him.

Well I look like an idiot for thinking he would be claimed. Oh well.

But the Bruins can petition to have his name added. For example Darren Rumble has his name on the Cup despite playing only 5 regular season games and 0 playoff games for the Lightning in 03-04.

That is a good point, but was Rumble part of the Lightning org or just a FA signing?

I'm intrigued to see what kind of numbers Turco puts up in Julien's system. I wouldn't be surprised if he finishes above .915.

Would have loved to have seen the reaction if he had been claimed, but everyone should have known already knew he wasn't going to be, so there isn't much to say than there's nothing to see here.

I don't get it why Dreger said he would not be able to play for any other team. I've looked and looked over the CBA and there is nothing about it unless there's some obscure rule about reserve list after the trade deadline.

I agree - there is nothing I can find in the CBA or By-Laws which would have prevented Turco playing for another team if he had been claimed on waivers.

I was just thinking, is this one of the oldest goaltending duos ever?

Hasek and Osgood in 08' might have them beat by a bit. I think Hasek was 42 or 43 that year.

Not even the oldest in the league right now.

The younger of Brodeur+Hedberg is older than the elder of Thomas+Turco.

Brodeur May 72 (39y10m)
Hedberg May 73 (38y10m)
Thomas April 74 (37y11m)
Turco August 75 (36y7m)

Heck, Tampa's duo (Roloson 42y5m + Garon 34y2m = 76y7m) is older than Boston's (74y6m) but shy of NJ's (78y8m).

Bit harsh? I'm sure his GAA will reduce in time.

He looks like a beer league goalie. Not too sure of himself and scary to watch.

Any chance the other GMs petition the league to waive Turco's ineligibility for the playoffs?
