Gillis is definately not regretting Luongo's contract. Dispite criticizm on HF, Luongo is still a franchise level goaltender just entering his prime. Salaries for legitimate number one goalies has been rising and looks like those salaries are going to continue to rise. At $5.3 million per year, Luongo is already cheape that some lesser skilled goal tenders and the amount of his salary will never go up, unlike most of the rest of the goalies in the league.

Lacks contract is up at the end of the year and will be resigned to a multy year deal so there will be no threat of him becoming a UFA early because he will get his games in in the 2-3 year contract he will sign.

I think Stevie is going to spend those picks to get Schneider.

If he isn't ready and/or flops entirely then we'd probably be in the market for a starter further along than either Tik or Lack.

Either way...these are not the droids you are looking for.

Move along.
Agreed. Lack might be ready to be an NHL backup next year, but he's not a starter yet.

He isn't as seasoned as Bishop was. Lack will likely be good, but he has some time left to be ready to compete for a starter position.

There are scouts that have said that they actually think Lack is going to eventually be the best of the 3 Vancouver goalies and even if the VALUE right now for him is a 2nd round pick... there is absolutely no way Vancouver would move him for that. He's worth far more than that to him.

Schneider will likely be moved at the end of this year if Luongo doesn't crap the bed and Lack will be brought up this season and go through the ropes much like Schneider did. I have little doubt that Lack is going to be the starter here in Vancouver in 3-5 years.

It really is getting sad. I'm at the point where I'm hoping the habs actually start crawling out of the basement just so he's got something worth paying attention to happening with his own team to distract him from ours.

That or Cory puts a restraining order on him from ever mentioning or typing his name again.
