Who cares about a draft pick???? Who is the last player the Leafs drafted and developed that became a star. Clarke...30 years ago??? What happened to Kadri, Justin Pogge, Schenn, Colaiacovo, etc. etc. Those guys were suppose to be leading this team into the playoffs according to all the fans over the last few years. It has been disapointment after disapointment.
Worst farm system in the league, and this is what we are counting on.

On a side note, Colaiacovo is playing very solid in St. Louis.. He and Ian White would be the top 2 defencemen if they were still here.

Okay then. Lets just trade our 1st round pick for 3 2nd round picks. Quantity over Quality should do it eh?

When was the last time we had a chance to draft a quality player in the first round. The highest we've had in recent times was Kadri who realistically is not the great, sure thing prospect especially when your drafted 7th. We have a chance at the top 3-4 or even #1 if we win the lottery. It makes a big difference when you draft at 1-4 compared to 7-13.

The bolded part made me laugh.

I'd start Reimer from here on in, and go with a Schenn Komi pairing That should do it. Oh and play Rosehill lots so the pk gets tired.

Seriously, let's tank this BAD, try crazy stuff like Phil on the PK and Carlyle can say he likes "skilled" player to penalty kill. Whatever, just finish as LOW as possible, then maybe we can get a good kid or use that pick to parlay into something else.

2) I think GM Burke has officially lost all his marbles. He is hanging up on reporters, not showing up for other engagements, paying ridiclous money for for second and third line talent. He is more worried about what Don Cherry thinks. He still thinks this core group of players is going to take him deep into the playoffs at some point.
He is really losing touch with reality
3) The players themselves....what else can you say, involved in a tight playoff race and they all decide to take a month off. Goaltending is horrible, defence are worse,
Yes, they are a young team...a team of young 3rd and 4th liners.
People say they are going in the right direction.......they will finish worse than last year.

I can't recall a time when there was so little to look forward to with this team.
See, I read stuff like this and I realize that way too many people around here have no idea what it really means to be a Leaf fan. This failure gig is nothing new, the feeling of futility as the playoffs drift away has been around this team for a lot longer than the lockout. Oh, we had a few brief moments of playing mildly competitive hockey over the years, (thanks Cliff Fletcher!) but for the most part being a Leaf fan means having sand kicked in your face by everyone. When I was growing up, I would have given my left nut for the Leafs to not be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs this late. You kids are funny, to us old timers this playoff drought makes it seem like things are back to normal in Leaf Land rather than some tragedy.

I don't know why people are upset, we have the draft to look forward to. What more can we ask for?

Yes, we may HAVE BEEN one of the greatest teams in the past. But the last 45 years have been nothing to be envious about. It hurts me as much as it does you. Envy just isn't the word here.

Sorry, buddy.. you must have me confused with someone who actually reads articles written by Steve Simmons.. like you apparently do. By the way, one cannot overdose on something that one doesn't consume.

It would seem that you prefer wearing your blue-and-white tinted beer-goggles an awful lot, otherwise you would have noticed how crappy the Leafs have been since the lock-out.

Please feel free to plod along with the rest of the wilfully-blind herd. It's pretty clear that you can't deal with the reality of the Leafs' perpetual stay in the Land of Mediocrity.

Perhaps for Burke not to frig it up beforehand?

Yup, Burke has done a bad job as the GM. He keeps talking about the foundation of the team being set. He referred to it as a building going up in Toronto... That its not just a hole in the ground, that the steel frame is up. NOT even close. This poor excuse of a team he has put togather could not be further away.

He wasted 4 years on Ron Wilson and garbage trades and signings. Who gives Connolly 4.75M a year. Come on! What a joke.

The Leafs will be a better team once Burke is fired.

14th in the conference. I d think Carlyle is a better coach but his strategy is much different than Wilsons, and cannot be put into practice in a couple of weeks.
