Gagner and Nugent-Hopkins are both centers... Here's hoping Edmonton management doesn't go for BPA and instead fill their need at defence.

I don't see Nugent-Hopkins, Gagner or Grigorenko as third line centers.

Then again, Edmonton won this tank battle, but the war isn't over yet.

I don't know about Subban, but Plekanec has been on the ice for 15 of the 18 shorthanded and empty-net goals the Habs have allowed this season. Even without the caveats of quality of linemates, quality of opposition, and usage that makes for a massive difference in the traditional +/- stat.

Yeah, Subban's 5 on 5 +/- sits at a very strong +10 after this game (51/41).

While the +5 Plekanec gains going from tradition +/- to 5 on 5 makes a big dent in his bad results. Although PDO is just a big culprit for Pleks.

Look I don't mind if the Habs won last night, BUT if at the end of the year the Habs are still above the Oil by say 2-4 points, I will blame PG again. Habs had their chance to let the OIL win.

If the Habs lose out on the Draft pick them MOST NEED because of this game, PG should be assassinated.

They might just dump Gagner like we sent Cammy packing. Have you seen his reputation on the Oilers board ? I wouldn't count on the Oilers drafting Murray or Dumba instead of Grigorenko.

If they do want Murray or Dumba I bet they'd try moving down a couple spots instead of taking them second.

This sucks result-wise for us, but winning still feels good. Good game from basically all the forwards and Subban, typical trainwreck performance from the rest of the D.

Glad to see Patches and Eller pad their stats. I hope those two and Subban have a long career in Montreal, we need it.
Bruins don't win in PO last year vs. Habs.... that's what.

@ VAN - Our defence against their deep attack? Yikes. Loss.
@ BUF - Quick turnaround coming off West coast, BUF will need the game. Loss.
vs OTT - A possible win I guess. Still, IF OTT shows up, it's a likely L.
@ OTT - Loss, especially if we beat them the previous game.
vs NYI - Should be a Budaj start as it's a b-2-b. Could be a win, possible L. Huge tank battle.
@ BUF - Loss if BUF is still in the race. Possible win if they aren't.
vs OTT - Could be another Budaj start, if so, L.
@ PHI - 2nd of a b-2-b. Our defence against their deep attack? Loss.
vs FLA - They have owned us this year, they will likely need this game. Loss.
@ NYR - We usually play well against them. Could be Budaj vs Biron. Loss still very possible.
@ WSH - 2nd of a b-2-b. They own us. Loss.
vs TB - Could be for TB's season, but they suck on the road. Possible win.
@ CAR - 2nd of a b-2-b. Long flight to Raleigh. Budaj start you would think. Loss.
vs TOR - Who knows, TOR plays well in our building usually. Toss up.
Hmmm it's a 1hr 50 min flight ? Long ?

Yeah, if it wasn't for him we might have lost this. Granted, his defensive lapses cost us enough games as it is. So maybe it balances out.

I have been saying taht for months. Since Cunneyworth took over they "dumbed down" the PP and only passed to the point and shot from there. You need multiple options or teams will just shut you down.

Oh well...

no more starting Budaj please...I guess Price is better at tanking.

I REALLY hope we dont start moving up the rankings...We've come this close to Yakupov!

but, big picture, I would have preferred that we lost last night . . .

Need to make sure we don't surprise and pick up points against teams like Vancouver, Philly, Rangers

Still big important games against the Sabres, Islanders, Hurricanes and Leafs in this tank

Are you sure Edmonton will take Grigorenko (assuming the lottery winner is either Columbus or a team that doesn't move higher than 4th)? Grigorenko's draft stock has plummeted to the point where Murray could be BPA at #2 from an Oilers' standpoint...

Grigorenko's draft stock has plummeted cuz teams sitting at #8-10 wanna pick him.

We don't know the answer but logically we pretty much all think the Oilers will be picking a D, nothing to do with his stock dropping

By #8, even Galchenyuk and Forsberg will be gone. There remains Girgensons for those teams at #8-10 wanting a forward.
