There is no evidence that Slats has a grudge towards this kid. Why would he? The kid is a good kid who came here and has not caused any problems. I believe Slats would like to see him play but I think Torts has the final decision.

Maybe. But if Torts had the final decision I think Hagelin would have made the team out of camp (as torts said) and Avery would have not been recalled this season at all.
Ultimately I don't know either way. But there's a reason, on a team that sometimes struggles with offense and a lack of scoring/forward depth in the system, this kid hasn't had a sniff.

As long as the team is winning I think Slats tries to avoid micromanaging his coaches. I agree with you about Avery but that was a little different situation. The team was losing to the point where Torts job may have been in question. Like you I think Slats probably asked Torts to bring Avery back at that time. Once the team started winning frequently I think Torts then made the move to send Avery down.
I dont know if Hagelin did enough to make the team right out of camp. I think his time in the AHL helped him.
I do not think Slats has anything against Zooks. I have never heard Slats say 1 negative thing about Zooks.
Zuccarello is NOT an NHL player. Small and plays even smaller.
Plus, with his agent asking Sather to let him out of contract to return to Europe he signed his walking papers with the Ranger
You have not seen him play. Admit it. He is small, but he is feisty, goes to the tough areas and battles for pucks. There's nothing small about his effort or willingness. His body is another story. But don't say things that just aren't true.
The last thing the Rangers need right now is more skill. If you can dress the likes of Boyle, Prust, Rupp, Scott, Feds, and Mitchell on the same night how can 5 or 6 goals not happen?
I am very surprised this thread got bumped
But it could not hurt to try under these circumstances
Zuccarello - Richards - Gabby
PACK LINE
Hagelin - Stepan - Mitchell/Fedotenko
Fedotenko/Rupp - Boyle - Prust
No call up Deveaux and Newbury. From that point the transformation into the Charlestown Chiefs will be complete. Seriously though, I'm in favor of an MZA call up at this point
Could be an important weekend for Zuke. 3 back-to-back games. He should play his ass off and get himlsef 4-5 points, and maybe he can get an unexpected call-up....
Ok, enough is enough, when we have Mitchell and Rupp running the PP, there are NO reasons what so ever to not bring up Zucca. I don't give a **** about size and defense, we need someone who can make a pass. Just a nice ****ing opening pass on the PP and I will be ecstatic.
I think our main problem is lack of depth in our lineup. The way torts puts together the lines is asinine mza and wellman are both top six players if given an opportinity. I would go with this and form a reputable third line.
In what universe is MZA and Wellman top-six NHL LWers? MZA plays RW and Wellman plays C and shoots right-handed. Even if (big if) they had the talent to play top-six minutes, what makes people so sure they can slot into the lineup out of position and not miss a beat?
If you're going to have an opinion on what the line-up should look like, please at least put some serious thought into it.

Actually I've seen him play enough times (including AHL games) to know his game in no way transitions to the NHL right now and probably won't unless it's a PA Parenteau situation where a ****** team throws him out there and he puts up points while continually losing.
And several have disputed my take on this player .... then if I'm wrong why hasn't he been called up at any point of the season? Rangers have needed offense all year long and expecially in the last 15 games or so?
And the "top six" position is more propaganda than accurate.

Waiting on a confirmation out of NA before biting, how legit is that source?
