Good news. Kimmo will be on the ice in no time. We all know it.
Perhaps there's veiled reference to what Bob McCammon did with Bobby Clarke, Bill Barber and Darryl Sittler -- take a late season vacation. I say that tongue-in-cheek.
Howard Eskin claims he's been told Timonen has a disc problem in his back that may need to be corrected by surgery in the off-season, and he's missing games because the team is telling making him to take time off before the playoffs. He's going to sit out for as long as the Flyers are winning games.
So, look out for the "wait, the Flyers were winning without Timonen, so we don't need him" threads

There was already one. Dude even went so far as to say we should just release Timo.
Timo IS getting older and his cap hit next season is 6.3 mil (fortunately his last season). Pronger will not come back and so ... we need to replace both of them.
Sounds to me that 6.3 mil can be put to good use, ie: add it to Carle's 3.5 mil and a few other caps to go get BOTH Weber and Suter?
BTW probably wont happen, but think about one thing: we are losing BOTH Timo and Pronger. To replace two superstar Dmen, we need two superstars.
Yup, people here are so nostalgic they dont wanna let go, but he IS getting older and all good things gotta end.
It is NOT sacrilegious to think about it.
Guys this is hockey not religion, think rationally.

Yes make a remark like that.... you're adding so much to the discussion. Yup that's exactly what we're saying .. we're saying Lilja is much better than Pronger.. happy??
I'm actually going to agree here. The flyers, for some reason last year, played better hockey when Carter or Richards were out of the line-up.
Jester once said that there's only a small gap between the better players of the game and those who are average. In the case of Timonen, maybe what we have seen this year is his back reducing him from elite to average.
I remember when many here labeled Mike Rathje a "pilon" owing to his immobility. Turned out that Rathje was playing professional hockey with back woes that would render an ordinary man unable to tie his own shoes.
Perhaps Timonen's back issues have made him appear slow, have prevented him from being positionally sound, unable to win 50/50 battles, etc ... and perhaps Timonen with a bad back is a lesser defender than the two new guys, so Timonen's absence has actually helped the team.
Oh, and by the way, I'd like to point out the abject ridiculousness of thinking to trade/waive/healthy-scratch/euthanize Timonen, who remains the team's top defender, despite recent mediocre play. Not to mention his leadership on this squad.
