Win what? I sure hope you aren't referring to the stanley cup because the flyers havent won it since 10 years before Suter was born. Tell me which team in the league has the most regular season wins, playoff wins and stanley cup titles in the last 20 years I'll give you a hint they dont wear orange on their jersey. If Suter leaves Nashville because he wants to win he'll come to Detroit but that's what they do better then any other team in the league in the last 20 years WIN.
Since the Flyers came into existence, only Montreal has more wins. Try again.
Not every free agent is considered a sweepstakes. Just wanted to point that out.
Who's going to win the Ty Conklin sweepstakes this summer??
Just like how Brad Richards didn't have a sweepstakes last season? Or Kovalchuk the year before? Or Hossa the year before that?
When two absolute studs (Suter and Parise - or any stud player for that matter) are scheduled to be on the open market (Selanne and Lidstrom aren't moving from their teams), it automatically becomes a sweepstakes.
I don't see why Detroit would be the premier destination for a 27 year old Suter. Lidström will retire soon, Stuart will be gone, Zetterberg has a bum back, Datsyuk will be 34 years old next season and their prospect pool has lots of question marks.
I can see a lot of teams being more attractive to Suter.
Depends on the cap IMO. If it goes up by at least a couple mil I can def see the flyers taking a run at him and being one of the front runners. With that said Detroit will most likely be in on him too. I just think a team with a younger core makes more sense
Most likely out come is him staying in Nashville though
Huh? Philly has like 5 million in cap space next year. There are tons of teams with significantly more than that who could offer more money.
That's with no bonus cushion, cap increase AND with players that would likely not be on team.
With a bonus cushion you would likely add about 3M in space.
Cap increase would add maybe 3-4M (just a guess).
Players that won't factor into their cap (possibly Pronger, Manning, Gustafsson) add another 6M
They could potentially have upwards of 16M or 17M this offseason (depending on Pronger), but at least a good 11M or 12M. They do need to re-sign Voracek as a RFA and they have decisions to make on Jagr, Carle, Kubina and Grossmann.
