The big slump started in February, when the Leafs lost 5 zip against Montreal.

They lost the two before Montreal, to Winnipeg and Philly... That was when we were a couple points out of 5th-6th. Since then, we've been surpassed by a third of the league.

QUESTION

what did Wilson mean when he said in his presser: "we didn't do anything at the deadline...". was that a message to BB that he was disappointed in the lack of adjustments (toughness, goalie, center, defense, etc)? was that a strong message to the management?

History suggests that not being in the Winter Classic isn't very good for this team's playoff chances either.

I honestly think it was. Wilson didn't like some of the players he aquired or didn't aquire depending which way you look at it. Lombardi has been garbage and Connolly doesn't work on OUR top 6 with the chemistry between our top 2 lines, and Connolly isn't tough enough for a bottom 6 role.
In my own personal opinion (take it for what it is worth), Lombardi and Connolly should have been shipped out to a floor team or a team with a scoring need like Columbus for a prospect and bottom 6 player.

Back to the thread, the wheels came off after the dubbing by Montreal. Wilson is the type of coach that works well with veteran players that know winning and losing. Our players don't know winning and losing and need a leader and coach that will always be pushing for improvement and preaching good isn't good enough.
