YES! I remember that goal. It was the first playoffs that I was really old enough to remember thoroughly

One of my favorite Leclair moments! What a slapper! Also Leclair will always be my all time favorite Flyer. Got me addicted to hockey.

Really surprised over here in NL there are not more great hockey players, they have all the attributes:

Massive people on average, seriously, the u-25 age group averages about 6'2, no kidding.

A lot of great skaters, everyone spends a months over winter on the lakes and canals, and the Netherlands always do brilliantly at speed skating.

They have one of the best field hockey teams in the world.

Love their sport, seriously fanatical, even minor sports have multi tier league systems in a country of just over 10million.

Loads of great NHL players have parents or ancestors who are dutch, Bouwmeester, Van Impe, Van Riemsdyk, the Staals, Versteeg, Beukeboom, Vanbiesbrouck, Vandemeer, Trever Linden, Karl Dykhuis, Nieuwendyk, Yzerman, Greg de Vries, Hamhuis, Heerema, Mike Van Ryn, Dan Bylsma, Jeff Friesen, Pat Verbeek...

A guy we have a high chance of drafting as well Koekoek... is dutch, means Cuckoo in dutch!

To expound, I heard it was (following a second or third great save on Gretzky in a row):

Gretzky: Who are you?

Hextall: I'm Ron Hextall, who the hell are you?

People who were at that game tell me Daigneault's goal was the single loudest moment they've ever experienced at a sporting event -- or anywhere, really, for that matter.

I wasn't old enough to really understand hockey then and I've never seen this goal before but wow... what a rocket.

Really makes you think what could, and should have been.

Great vid for several reasons.

1) Mike ****ing Knuble.
2) Ovechkin's mistake on the goal (I grew up in NOVA in loathe the Capitals)
3) John Stevens' epic handshake fail. I mean HAHAHA!

Im too young for this goal but my dad was there and said it was the loudest he'd ever heard the spectrum ever and basically ended the series. Quebec had nothing after that

we had a hockey block party at college and hung a giant white billboard between two trees. Lots of kegs and lots of drugs. this is when the party really started.
