I really agree that our power play looks so much better of late. I think that this really says more about how bad our man-advantage has been and for how long. What we have now is probably a middle-third top pairing at the point, and it's enough to get me thinking that we're pretty good. How sad a history we CBJ fans share.
Getting shots off AND regaining possession? That's crazy talk!
The speed at which they set up and pass is just amazing.
Not to mention Nash seems to be playing his best hockey...
Why did the Mayans have to pick 2012 for the world to end? I'm kind of giddy thinking about next season.
I'm excited about Johnson being on the team, and it seems like the Wiz Johnson pairing will be really good.
And about the Mayans... The Mayan calendar didn't take leap year into account, thus, on the Mayan calender it would already be July of 2013, and thus, if the world was "supposed" to have ended seven months ago.

Lol, I read that too. Have you ever seen the Mayan calendar? Holy crap, I think that they just got to 2012, and said "**** it, this is too much work to go any further. We'll pick it up at a later date".
I thought the game was not the best played by either team, but the difference is that the Jackets were able to "will" themselves to the win. I think that is important for a teams evolution. To be able to pull wins out when they are not playing their best.

Pulling wins out when they are not playing their best is not evolution, it's revolution..
Here's my question--if this team is rallying around their captain, what will the effect of trading Rick Nash be?
None, there will be no trade in the off season.

So that's the second time the Mayans were wrong. The first time is affirmed by the fact that Maya is no more.
Not sure it should be much of a consideration. Rallying around someone has a momentary effect. Not usually something to build a foundation around.
Back around 1985, Dave Kingman decided that he'd be funny and send a gift-wrapped rat to a female reporter. Her crime was having the gall to wonder whether Oakland's chronic underachievement had anything to do with Kingman, who had the maturity of a 13-year-old, being regarded as a veteran leader.
The collective response of the A's was to rally around their "leader" and stop talking to the media at all. The team later brought in Tony LaRussa to get rid of the morons, of which there were several, and it was at that point that the A's became contenders.
I'm not going anywhere with that; it's an extreme example of my general distrust of "rallying around", but it's not really a comparable situation at all. It's a fun story more than anything, and I never can pass on the chance to take a shot at Dave Kingman, who would make Rodney Dangerfield in "Caddyshack" look like Judge Smails.
Also it largely depends on who you get back as well as when it occurs.
Regardless. What's the impact going to be when JMFJ's honeymoon period is over? I would love to think we could sustain a high level of performance with this team as it's constructed, but the odds are pretty low. What happens to JMFJ's enthusiasm if we roll off another 3-20-4 stretch next season?
There is a pink elephant in the room as much as we would like to avoid eye contact. More like a small handful of pink elephants.
If they were still around I think they would be the first to offer a maya culpa
