Anyone else notice how well our prospects are doing? Future looks incredibly bright if any number of these guys pan out at the NHL level. Have the Sens ever had such a forward prospect pool before?

Hey, we're not gonna have this great of a prospect pool forever....so let's take advantage of it and gloat while we can haha
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for it!
Zibby is not struggling in SEL for his age at all. It's not junior league and 0.5 PPG is very good pace for players of his age. By the end of the season he was playing on the first line and getting points almost in every game. Among all Junior(92-93) players only Johan Larsson had better PPG (and he is 1yr older).
I read something over at my favorite senators bog "THE 6th SENS" that Matt Peumpels concussion is really quite bad. They said he might never play again ever!

Link? I read Nichols' stuff religiously and I've never seen any mention of it being career-threatening.

It's quite bad indeed. Here's a quote from local paper:
Quote:
There is no target date for Matt Puempel's return to the lineup from a concussion.
Petes' coach Mike Pelino said Friday that Puempel continues to skate on his own but has not been cleared to practice. He saw another specialist in Toronto this week.
Pelino says the earliest the club could hope to have him back is their final regular season home game March 13 against Oshawa but there is also no indication he will be ready by then. Pelino doesn't want to go as far as saying Puempel won't play again this season but he said he also can't say for sure that Puempel will play again.

Matt Puempel passed an online concussion test and participated Tuesday in his first non-contact practice since Jan. 3. Petes' trainer Brian Miller said Puempel will have to pass a couple more non-contact practices and some contact practices, without any setbacks, before he can be cleared to play.
Hoping for the best, but it looks like the Petes season is going to end soon anyway.
A PPG pace in the OHL isn't really much to brag about for a first rounder pick. It's tough to judge a season as disjointed as his, but his production while he was playing didn't indicate he'd taken a step forward.

I don't think his stats this year are due as much of him not having taken a step forward as it was simply having lost a year on his development schedule via all of the interruptions he's had through injury & suspension. Two different things, but the same basic result. He's a year behind everyone in his draft class.
There is definitely a lot to look forward to! Give credit where credit is due: Bryan Murray is a killer at the draft table and he also made the right decision in terms of the direction of this organization. There was a time when I wasn't as confident in him but at this point I have tons of faith in him.
