I posted this in the Trades and Rumors board under the Bernier/TB or Schneider/TB post. But I was wondering what my fellow TB fans thought of this.
Connolly
2012 1st Round pick (Det)
2012 3rd Round pick (TB)
*maybe add a conditional 2nd from Florida if they give it up this year, if Schneider signs for more than 4 years*
Schneider
Hansen
Detroit's first would be payment for Hansen, whom is my favourite player from the Canucks. The guy just digs and pushes himself every game. I think him and Thompson on a line would be amazing. Hansen and Thompson together would be an amazing fore check that could pot goals and play on the SH very well. Connolly and the 3rd would be payment for Schneider. The conditional 2nd I put there to make Canucks fans think about it.
I always use Halak being traded to Stl for a 2nd round pick in the exact situation as the benchmark. With that said, no disrespect to Schneider or any Nucks fans that love Schneider but I wouldn't give up more than Det's 1st in 2012 for him. Maybe Phi's 2nd rounder as well, but even that's debatable.

Well, if Vancouver denied Colorado's offer that consisted of their 1st and 2nd, I doubt DET's 1st would do. Unless SFY wants Bernier, that is the price we're gonna have to pay. I could also see Vancouver demanding Conolly to replace Hodgson.

Eh, it's a slightly different situation this offseason. Schneider is an RFA, so while they're definitely going to want something in return for him, they also are going to have to pay him a pretty decent salary to keep him around. His play has been good, but his value may have actually stayed the same, or even dropped considering the expiring CBA.
canucks would want more than draft picks.. they would need a solid top 6 forward or top 4 dmen at least in return..
I highly doubt they'll get either a top 6 forward or a top 4 dman, since no other team in the past has when trading a RFA goalie in the off-season. The Canucks have one of the worst prospect pools in the league; I think they'd be wise to accept a package of a 1st round pick and a 2nd to replenish their cupboard.

This. But if that's the asking price I'd rather sign Vokoun (16th in SV%, 22nd in GAA) for 1-3 years and keep all our assets.

Vokoun would be a very interesting solution. Statistically, he's basically playing as well as he did in Florida and has proved that he was not just a product of Nashville's system. The Caps' struggles this year are definitely not attributable to goaltending, so I think he'd be a good fit for us if the asking price for Schneider/Bernier/Bishop are too high (in addition to signing him for nothing as you've stated above).
