To Rangers
Hawks 1st round pick in 2012 (or 2013 if Rangers want that one instead)
With Dubinsky's struggles and being the guy thrown into Nash trade talks I am thinking Rangers may have some regrets about the contract they handed him ( 4.2M cap hit that runs thru 2015 )
Moving him for 1st would allow them cap room and another asset in there pursuit of Nash or another winger in offseason
For Hawks they acquire a gritty 2 way winger (Who can play C if needed as well) to put on Toews/Kane wing
Sharp would move back to #2 C (A role he filled solidly for the Hawks in past ,, Hell they won a cup with him there)
Again, you're paying 4M+ for a player. If you're going pay that much, you better get a centre. If they wanted to play Sharp there, he'd be there and their all-star RW (*cough* Kane *cough*) would be at right-wing.
I think Sharp will likely end up at centre in the playoffs, if/when Kane moves back to RW and Toews returns.. but he's not a long-term solution there.
Kruger could be, Pirri's also a possiblity and Kevin Hayes and Mark McNeill are a bit further down the line.. but if you're going to take on a contract like that, it should be a centre.

Bolland will be UFA in 2014 and he wont be back nor should he
Kruger/Hayes potential seems to be 3rd line C's/W
McNeill is 2nd/3rd line C type
Pirri wont be Hawk in longrun IMO
Dubinsky is exactly what people want in Hawks top 6 (Tough , Gritty , 2 way guy)

Dubinsky was a center his first few years before moving to LW. He can fill in there if needed.
No regrets on the contract. Dubinsky has to wake up and stop messing around with journeymen players such as Stewart and Carter. His role on the team has changed. Other players have taken away his minutes on the PP(Stepan) and PK(Hagelin). Torts likes Dubinsky and Dubinsky loves playing in New York but it is time for a change of scenery. He looks like a lost soul these days.
Dubinsky can play both center and left wing. Center is his natural position. Torts moved him to wing.
I could see this deal happening. The Rangers will most likely be going after Parise or Nash and if Dubinsky is not traded for Nash, they will need to make room on the roster for Kreider.

If the Hawks are taking back 4M+ against the Cap, they better be getting a centre, not a winger.
You know, this board pisses me off to all holy hell.
In every ******* Rangers trade involving Dubinsky, everyone seems completely oblivious to the fact that Dubinsky has played wing/center for 2 years or so now (almost like Sharp)
In the ONE PROPOSAL where agreement seems to maybe be taking place, we're hearing dissent about not getting a center.
I'd facepalm, but I'm afraid I'd end up just like Dubi and break my nose.

The trade boards are always where you find the people that claim to have center ice and watch other teams but really don't. It's actually comical at times. Then in other situations like this where you have I beat a dead horse and tell someone umpteen times that a certain player has been used in a certain role for however long, it just gets annoying.
I can see why you want to face palm. As for this trade, if they're not looking to trade Dubinsky for Nash (which I think they will) I'd do this deal.

I was kind of confused by this. I had entertained the idea of getting Dubinsky this offseason as a centerman and he comes out with this winger stuff. I was scratching my head...
Value is more than fair enough for both sides. Rangers move Dubinsky's cap hit and gain a draft pick, and then they can sign Parise long-term or trade for Nash.
I think the trade that the OP is proposing is perfect. We don't need that pick in a top heavy draft. Although it doesn't give them quite the depth that the cup team had I think it will be close taking into account the fact that some of our rookies will be getting better.
