As I was sitting in the arena watching the first five minutes I was wondering how the Coyotes made the Wild look like the 80's Oilers. This spotting 2 goals to the opposition is so depressing. One of the more boring 2 periods of hockey I've seen. Yeah there were a ton of shots in the 2nd but they were they not high quality.
Then of course they mount another pseudo comeback only to lose the second point in fake hockey(so tired of the SO).
And of course the DAL/SJ game had the worst possible result.
But at least the pointless/suck/holy **** we shoulda tanked instead streak is over.
And hopefully Mike Smith's is ready to go for the finish. LOL had to play this game and the result wasn't too awful.
Well I pretty much knew it was going to turn out like this, I took my parents to the game. When I bring new people to a game, it's almost guaranteed the Coyotes will **** the bed. At least they showed some glimpses of Coyote hockey in the 3rd but probably not going to be easy to drag my Mom to another game after that.
Also, I heard scattered boos when Yandle was touching the puck. I know he's struggling but that's just ****ing classless by some shortsighted morons.

Man, that sounds like Habs fans hounding on Carey Price!
To their credit though, it was a terrible pass that led to a goal lol, but Barbs should have had that. Clear path to the shooter, should have turned out better for us.

That was horrible. How on earth will someone do better if you boo them? Yeah, he's not playing great - but I really don't think the booing is going to help matters.
I was pretty happy to get the point after the way that first period started.

Check the replay; pretty sure the puck was tipped; Barbs had no chance.
This year, LaBarbera is 0-2 in shootouts with 7 goals allowed on 11 shots. Not exactly a huge sample size, but that puts him at 59th in save percentage this year.
In his career, he's 11-10 with a save percentage of .554, which is 70th among active goalies.
LOL was acceptable last night, I suppose. Not good, but didn't ruin us.
It wasn't that he played badly last night. And if you look at his save pct. and GAA, they aren't horrible. They're pretty average, in fact. My issue is his record. If you want to make the playoffs, you need a backup who can do better than 3-8-3.

While we are on stats, what do you suppose is the average lead we've spotted teams in the last six games. Average goals against before the first goal for? 1.75? 2.00?
I think since feb 21 the other teams has scored 1.9 goals a game before the Coyotes scored their first:
Feb-21-3 goals, then 2, 0, 1, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2.....
Only saw the highlights but that pass from Yandle was all kinds of horrendous. Does anyone else think he needs to be sat out a game just so he gives his head a shake? He's getting progressively worse...

our commentating team made a good point about our current top 4 (Yandle, OEL, Aucoin, Roszival). With two rookies in the lineup filling out the bottom pairing roles we've really relied on increased minutes to our top 4 and it's apparent that those minutes are really starting to catch up. I think Yandle and OEL have played a notch (or in Yandle's case several notches) below where they were playing in February. They look tired and when you are tired the brain isn't as sharp and you make mistakes. In Yandle's case it's a Jovo pass right up the middle. In OEL's case it's just a little half step behind his coverage and a slower level of decision making. And if you look at Aucoin. Keep in mind he was signed to not be a 20+ minute/night D man. He was signed to anchor the bottom pairing and be a teacher to some of our kids. Now he's arguably our #3 D man. A guy who couldn't make the Flames roster two years ago is now our #3 D man? I love Aucoin and what he's brought to this franchise but you can only push things so hard for so long.

That might not be a bad idea. To be clear, I wouldn't see it as a punitive move. He may just need a break. Unfortunately, with Klesla, Morris, and Schlemko all out, resting anyone isn't an option.

The huge minutes are definitely starting to take a toll on Yandle and OEL's game. Neither of them look particularly impressive lately.

Looking back at the results we had the last few games playing less than stellar teams, too bad we didn't give Yandle and OEL less ice time so they could regroup.
I am very disappointed in Vermette. For a guy that is supposed to be good in the faceoff circle he was pathetic last night. He is a turnover machine on the PP.
So far, it looks like we got a dud.
OEL, Yandle, Aucoin and Rozi getting worn down is entirely on Tip imo. We should be playing 7 D right now. The young guys won't possibly screw things up more than Yandle and Rozi are lately. We're essentially playing 11 forwards anyway with the limited time Biz gets. So why not alleviate some of the pressure off the top guys by letting all of Summers, Stone and Rundblad play.
