if getting secondary assists are so easy, then Brandon Dubinsky would be having a better statistical season than he is. Richards makes a lot of very good, subtle plays out there that go unnoticed. So many times he'll bring it into the zone late in a shift. hold the puck for a few seconds, then put it into a zone where the next shift can get to it to continue pressure. he doesnt get points for that, he doesnt get any credit for it, but its a very smart play. he's a very good player.
i dunno, i really value hockey IQ over almost every other hockey ability, so call me biased, i think Richards is going to be just fine, and barring 2 cold streaks, neither of which were ridiculously long, he's been getting on the score sheet with regularity.
I never said they were easy to get and don't even bring up Dubinsky, I've lost 3 years off my life because of him. You are correct, he is a good hockey player and he does make smart plays, but he needs to be more. He needs to be dangerous. I never expected him to get 90 points, truth be told I was hoping we wouldnt sign him, but to not break into the 70s will be upsetting for sure.
Richards has been just short of awful all year. I wish some of you would quit drinking the Ranger Kool aid. I love when some of you say he has been so good for Step and AA. How do any of you now what he is doing for these guys unless your in the locker room. Way over paid bum.

I dont think I would go that far. He has been good at times, and the players say they like him. I dont listen to Sam and Joe, they are ********.

step is anyone's guess, but del zotto has said many times that richards has been a huge help to him.
Richards has had a tough year. His relationship with Olivia Munn didn't work out. If I were him,I would be very upset too. She has been in the news recently. OMG.

Wait, so you actually look at non-Ranger related news on the web too???!
Was someone expecting more points from him in the games he did not score the GWG in? Or perhaps our team to be 65-0 due to an extra 20 points from him?
Not sure, but to me his success or failure from here on out is his performance in the playoffs.

let's make sure we get in first though. We need wins lol
I think people need to take a look at callys goal total to date. Do you think he would have that if he wasnt playing with richie?
I will take it a step further.
The last two losses Richards has generated offense on their powerplays, getting rebounds on net, or outright getting players in position where the goal should be easy, but is not converted. He can put his teammate in position to score, but after that it is out of his hands, guys have to finish, and they are not.
He had a rough patch this season, no doubt about it, but his play was not terrible. At the end of the day, the guy has been creating plenty lately, nobody is finishing. If they make a play for Parise or Ryan in the summer, his production will be where it ought to be. For right now I believe the season he has had when everything considered is acceptable. Not great, but I will take it.
He is in charge of the PP he plays the QB position, it largely on him to settle and make the right plays and he often does not do that. If you have the right players they dont need some coach to tell them at their age how to run are PP they do it themselves. Please if you dont watch the games dont make comments as if you know better. And please guys does not matter what line he plays on, if he doesent do it no one else will. If you dont kno why hes not on the first line With Gaborik than you should watch a little closer. He hasent displayed the foot speed or acceleration to create for Gaborik and is not good down low, both of which Gaborik will benefit from.
I watch 75% of Ranger games every year, my 2nd favorite team is whoever is playing the Rangers.
I still think the PP coach needs to go, you guys have had a terrible PP for a long time.
Richards reminds me of Cullien only slower. Since we do not have any better C then him, the entire conversation is senseless.
The league has learned by now that all you have to do against Rangers is to take care about Stepan. In those games where Step shined so did Rangers. That is because our two other C are nothing to write home about.
Those cold streak are really scray, though. Inferno. One point in 14 games? The guy is being paid like a superstar! Do you ever see Malkin/Kane/Nash (etc.) have stretches like that?
Malkin? Now the expectation is for Richards to be Malkin?
Pat Kane has 16 goals and is an alternate captain on a team that isn't meeting expectations. Rich Nash has a whopping 1 more point than Richards, is the captain of a sinking ship, is all be being escorted out of town and has the 5th highest cap hit in the league.
Take a look at Ovechkin's game log and get back to me with regard to expectations and salaries. EVERY player had bad stretches, maybe even bad seasons. If this is a "bad season" for Brad Richards, well, hell.....in the context of these three examples, I'll take it.
I liked the Hags-Richie-Gabby line. Looked dominant out there. Didn't overly love the team trying to get him a hatty, but it's understandable. He's never had one before. Hopefully he continues to play exactly like this.
Richards was outstanding tonight. He's coming around.
I have a hard time justifying one good game as coming around, but Richards was flat out fantastic tonight.
And it had way less to do with playing with Gaborik. Gaborik didn't make Richards all of a sudden a saint on the power play. He played like he's capable of.

Last 9 games: 3 goals, 7 assists. He's coming around.
Richards has not been as good stat wise as I expected but the Rangers are in first place and after tonight hopefully the Rangers get back on track. I was surprised to hear on the telecast tonight that Richards has never had a hat trick in his career. I feel one coming on Thursday
Wait just a second boys... Richards was at some point in time dating Olivia Munn?!?! Hell... I don't care how bad his season's going... He's all good in my book!
