So I get home just in time to see the last minute or so of OT. I see a great save from Tokarski and then I see him falling down in the crease twice and after Ovi buries the GWG he seems to be pretty slow skating to the bench. Did he appear hurt to anyone else?
Glad he had a decent game, too bad they tied it late and Ovi woke up.
I noticed he didnt exted his left leg out on the ovechkin shot, looked hesitant to stretch...hope im wrong
Connolly has continued to play really well, hopefully he doesnt get sent packing this summer. He's finally stepping up in terms of effort.
P-SS-MSL was solid.
Clark is clark and he's the worst player on the team imo. I said back in Nov. that he needed to go, absolutely horrid play by him this year. Not too impressed with Brewer this year either but I think he's more fit for a 2nd pairing dman in his career rather than a top 2 guy. We really need a good dman. Lee played pretty good.
Ovi still isnt great, he got a "gimme goal" that was handed to him on a platter, nothing special about him or that goal to be honest.
Tic played a damn good game! He just needs more experience and he needs to work on keeping everything instead of using two blockers. Give him time though, he played very well!! '
At least we gained one point, not a complete loss tonight, of course the other point would've been grand but you take what you get and move on. Start Tic next game and limit Clark to lower minutes, put Lee up a pairing. I really dont like Clark anymore, Im sure theres a more suited dman out there for us this summer that can block shots that ISNT a liability when he isnt blocking the puck.
Yeah I didn't think he looked right/comfortable. Probably a combination of nerves and not hydrating enough during the play. Can't comment on the rest of his game since I didn't see it, although I did see the replay of the tying goal and it was stoppable, but the guy coming right in on him didn't help.
Would really like a break at some point this season... just one, please. One thing to go right after a season of **** isn't too much to ask for, is it?
Meh dehydration happens. Still bummed with how the 3rd went
Yeah but does everyone agree that tokarski is about on garon's level? Roli would have given up 6 or 7. And we would all be hailing tokarski if more of our zillion shots landed and we had won by a few goals. Very solid for a first start
That explains a lot. He didn't look very comfortable in the 3rd and OT.
Another observation: Our first line that is pretty much single-handedly keeping this team on course for the playoffs had the most trouble getting out of our own zone. Especially Purcell (trying to be too fancy) and Marty looked surprisingly lost. It didn't help that outside of Lee no defenseman was able to clear the puck. But 16-91-26 definitely has to be better in our own end. They spent several full shifts behind our own blueline. 45-60 secs in the D-zone = 0 secs in the O-zone = 0 scoring chances. Not so good for a one scoring line team - which we are right now.
Brian McNallys twitter: "On Green's hit, Ovechkin noted he took a head shot, too, last night. Asked who hit him, said he couldn't remember b/c he had a concussion."

****** elbow from Green. Pretty promising game from Tic, minus the end of the game dehydration thing. It happens, but a pro athlete should know better. As soon as we stopped playing offense I knew we wouldn't hold onto the lead. I think Hall could have helped clear that puck just before the tying goal, it looked like he hesitated(not saying the blame is on him, just think he could've helped). The whole game I kept thinking (after Tic would make a save) that Roli wouldn't have made the same save

I think that's really been one of our biggest problems all year with this team. Every time we get the puck, there's always this little hesitation and by then, the opposing players are all over us or the goalie has moved into position. There's rarely a good 'ol one timer other than Stammer. It's always stop the puck, think about what you are going to do with it, then give it up to the opposing player.
Looking at the goals last night and some of the details, a few things stood out:
-Tokarski was positionally solid, but didn't seem to see where his rebounds were going at times
-Hedman had an awful moment of decision making on the game tying goal. He had no business going as high as he did and getting that far out of position. That was really, really awful.
-Holy **** was Tokarski cramping bad. He was moving like a drunk guy in one of those inflatable sumo suits. Simple fix, though.
-Not sure what happened to Clark in OT, looked like he came up lame after falling over/getting tripped.
I'll add a few more things later. Not a bad showing by the kid.
