It's a home & home against philly. Moose will probably start the 2nd game of the series.
...hopefully.
Moose has played in something like 6 of our last 7 games against Philly. He's been somewhat successful, but I think giving Marty a look at Philly is more beneficial if we run into them in the playoffs.
I seriously don't get the fear of playing WPG at home...they're Home record is the same as the Rags, Pens, and Caps......
Also, the Devils have the 4th best road record in the league, if that counts for anything.
Playing the Jets in Winnipeg isn't my biggest concern right now.
Regular season records mean absolutely nothing in the playoffs. You can throw out every single stat from the regular season once the playoffs start. It's a clean slate.
It's simply a matter of being better than your opponent wherever you're playing, at home or on the road.
I think the Devils match up very well against Winnipeg.
Aside from their advantage at home, the only thing about that team that worries me is Pavelec. He may very well be a top 5 goalie in the league right now.

The only thing that annoys me about Winnipeg is the MARTY MARTY MARTY MARTY, and HEDBERG HEDBERG HEDBERG HEDBERG chants. They do this every game though Chanting at whoever is the Goalie of the opposing team.

The home record in itself isn't that impressive, but when you compare it to their away record...it certainly shows they've got a big advantage at home (same for Washington)
Between us Philly is the only team I'm more comfortable seeing Moose play against us than Marty.
Moose has beat them both of his times. Philly is the only team Marty has played more than once against this season that he has not beaten. Aside from Boston who we didn't beat at all.
Though the other formula is both times Moose started, Bobrovsky started. Both times Marty started Jyz started.
Jyz has made a bigger fool out of us than any other goaltender this season. 4 full games against Lundqvist we scored 5 goals. So in 12 periods we score 5 on Lundqvist.
7+ periods against Jyz we score 1 goal. He's probably the worst Goaltender in the league that actually plays on a top 8 team in either Conference. He also only had 2 shutouts coming into last week, and one was against the Devils. Now he's had 2 more this week eh.
That to me is a hell of a lot worse than getting shutout by a rookie in 3 periods.
Anyone remember last time we played Florida, and Scott Clemmensen shut us out for about 58 minutes!?
Devils couldn't get past Lundqvist and the collapsible wall in front of him for the better part of this season as well, they finally figured that out. They can do the same against Clemmensen.
I don't understand the people that say matchups don't matter.
Tell that to the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Devils. Matchups are everything. We face the only team we had a problem with in the season each of those first rounds, which is why I'm convinced we end up with Boston.

LOL Clemmensen probably won't even start anyway. I think they can if they show up to play though.
Right now I'm worried about them getting past Jyzgalov. He isn't playing like the Goalie Gomez anymore!
